Purpose of the Role

To provide strategic leadership and operational oversight for Akademi Kecemerlangan Minda & Fizikal (AKAL), ensuring the design, delivery, and continuous improvement of transformative programs that enhance participants’ mental resilience, physical capability, discipline and personal excellence. The Lead AKAL will direct curriculum development, trainer engagement, stakeholder partnerships, and the growth of AKAL’s program offerings to achieve sustainable impact and organisational objectives.

Key Accountabilities / Individual Accountabilities
Strategic Business Growth
  • Lead the formulation and execution of business development strategies aligned with the Company’s business objectives and FGV Group’s strategic direction.
  • Support the CEO in developing growth plans, business strategies, and execution roadmaps to ensure long‑term sustainability and profitability.
  • Identify, evaluate, and develop new market opportunities, services and revenue streams.
Market Intelligence & Commercial Strategy
  • Drive market intelligence, competitor analysis, and industry trend assessments to support informed strategic decision‑making.
  • Assess commercial viability, risks and returns of new business initiatives, tenders and strategic projects.
  • Provide strategic insights and recommendations to Management on expansion, diversification and partnership opportunities.
Sales, Partnerships & Stakeholder Management
  • Oversee sales strategies and ensure alignment with marketing initiatives and operational capabilities.
  • Establish, manage and strengthen relationships with key stakeholders including FGV Group divisions, plantation units, government agencies, partners, suppliers and clients.
  • Lead high‑value contract negotiations, strategic alliances and long‑term partnerships to drive business growth.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for all business development matters involving internal and external stakeholders.
Cross‑Functional Collaboration & Governance
  • Collaborate with Operations, Finance, HR, Legal and Compliance teams to ensure effective execution of business initiatives.
  • Ensure all business development activities comply with corporate governance requirements, regulatory standards and FGV Group policies.
  • Monitor and review performance of business initiatives against agreed KPIs and targets.
People Leadership & Performance Management
  • Lead, manage and develop a high‑performing business development team through coaching, mentoring and performance management.
  • Set clear objectives and performance expectations to ensure delivery of business outcomes.
  • Build team capability to support current and future business growth.
Financial & Performance Accountability
  • Accountable for achieving revenue targets, business growth KPIs and overall commercial performance.
  • Drive innovation and continuous improvement in business development approaches and processes.

Qualifications and Working Experience
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Human Development, Sports / Physical Education, Psychology, Education, Business Administration or related fields.
  • A degree or advanced certifications in coaching, performance psychology, physical training or adult education is an advantage.
Working Experience
  • Minimum 10 years of relevant experience in training leadership, program management, and/or academy leadership.
  • Proven track record in managing training programs, curriculum design, operations and stakeholder partnerships.
