Lead, Category Management (Non‑Food)
Position based in foodpanda’s Malaysia office, overseeing the Non‑Food segment for both Malaysia and Singapore. Reporting to Head, Category Management (SGMY) in the Quick‑commerce team.
Responsibilities
- Act as the business owner of the Non‑Food portfolio across both markets while helming several Non‑Food (MY) categories.
- Ownership of team OKRs including key metrics such as Topline, Margins, NMR and shrinkage.
- Develop and execute optimal category strategy, pricing, promotions, range, availability, and cost prices to expand sales and margin.
- Ensure foodpanda categories have the optimal selection and strategically competitive prices through local and international sourcing.
- Source and build strong supplier base to negotiate terms, secure supplier advertising spend, and ensure a reliable and operationally effective flow of goods.
- Develop new sourcing and extended range to ensure high‑quality, good‑value goods are available to customers year‑round.
- Employ data‑driven decision making to drive the category while collaborating with marketing and supply chain to forecast demand and ensure supply.
- Partner with supply chain to manage inventory levels and wastage.
- Work cross‑functionally with Product, Supply Chain, Sales Operations and Marketing on strategic projects.
- Conduct regular business reviews & JBP with key AAA suppliers.
- Deep dive into categories to understand best and worst practices and develop short‑ and long‑term strategies.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to meet OKRs.
- Lead and develop the team to ensure excellence in execution and career development.
What you need to be successful
- 6‑8 years of experience or more in merchandising, buying or category management.
- Knowledge in E‑commerce is a plus.
- Superb business judgment with a track record of successful negotiations and relationship management.
- Ability to work autonomously in a demanding, ambiguous environment with strong attention to detail.
- Expertise in interpreting data and providing strategic recommendations.
- Fluency in English and strong communication skills.
- Efficiency with Google Workspace and mastery of Microsoft Office preferred.
- Flexibility to travel (25%).
