Junior Fashion Merchandiser will be responsible in supporting the Design & Merchandising team in developing and executing merchandise strategies to drive sales, optimize inventory, and maximize profitability. This role focuses on demand forecasting, inventory management, stock allocation, and performance analysis across all sales channels. This person will work closely with Retail Operations, E-Commerce, and Warehouse teams to ensure the right products are available at the outlets and consignment counters at the right time and in the right quantity.
Responsibilities
- Work within the framework set out by the Head of Brand as to trends, colours and designs planned for forthcoming season(s).
- Liaise with suppliers overseas on samples, production schedule, capacity booking and delivery timing in an accurate and timely manner for all styles and seasons to meet launching date.
- Support the team in the design, planning and development of merchandise for various collections.
- Source for fabrics, negotiate on pricing, arrange for purchase & follow-up on delivery of samples. Manage the flow of design samples coming in and going out of the department.
- Assist the Sr Merchandiser in cost control, budgeting and other reporting tasks to monitor performance of merchandise including sales, margin and inventory.
- Analyse historical performance, market trends and bestsellers to assist in accurate demand forecasting.
- Monitor inventory levels to ensure they are optimal while minimizing overstock and ageing stock. Track sell-through rates, stock movement, replenishment cycles, and product lifecycle.
- Assist in stock allocation and re-allocation across retail stores and e-commerce channels.
- Collaborate with Retail Operations, E-Commerce, Marketing, and Warehouse teams to ensure alignment of plans and inventory flow.
- Coordinate with suppliers, logistics partners, and Warehouse teams on shipment schedules, inbound planning, and stock allocation.
- Monitor shipment status, review packing lists and documents, and distribution of incoming stocks.
- Provide administrative support for the design & merchandising team.
- Any other tasks assigned by the Head of Brand and your immediate superior(s).
Requirements
- Minimum Diploma in Fashion/Textile Design, Fashion Marketing or equivalent.
- This is an entry-level position, and we welcome fresh graduates to apply.
- Good organizational and follow-up skills.
- Analytical and detail-oriented.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Must be good in Excel/spreadsheets and Adobe Photoshop & Illustrator.
- Ability to read and write in Bahasa Malaysia, English and Mandarin (this is a must as incumbent is required to liaise with business partners and suppliers in China).
