Job summary

A construction management firm in Malaysia is looking for a skilled individual to assist the contract and project team. Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Assist in preparing Bill of Quantities based on drawings.

Job description

Assist the contract and project team in preparing cost estimates, contract documentation, progress claims, and cost control to ensure the project runs according to budget, specifications, and contractual requirements.

Key Responsibilities
Pre-Contract
  • Assist in preparing Bill of Quantities (BQ) based on drawings and specifications.
  • Prepare and issue Request for Quotation (RFQ) to subcontractors and suppliers.
  • Assist in price comparison, tender analysis, and cost proposals.
  • Ensure all tender documents are complete and organized for submission.
Post-Contract
  • Prepare progress claims to clients and review claims submitted by subcontractors.
  • Handle Variation Orders (VO) – quantity checking, cost evaluation, and documentation.
  • Conduct site measurement, quantity take-off, and valuation.
  • Assist in preparing final accounts for projects.
  • Review and manage Purchase Orders (PO), work orders, and subcontract agreements.
Cost & Documentation
  • Perform project cost control – monitor actual cost vs budget.
  • Maintain and organize contract documents, drawings, correspondence, and project files.
  • Prepare monthly cost reports and financial status updates.
  • Ensure all documentation complies with contractual and audit requirements.
Coordination
  • Coordinate with Project Manager, Site Engineer, and Site Supervisor for work verification.
  • Communicate with subcontractors and suppliers regarding pricing, purchase orders, claims, and site issues.
  • Liaise between the office and project site to ensure smooth information flow.
Requirements
  • Diploma/Degree in Quantity Surveying / Construction Management or related field.
  • 2 - 5 years experience.
  • Basic knowledge of quantity take-off, reading construction drawings, and contract understanding.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word); knowledge of AutoCAD.
  • Detail-oriented, organized, and able to meet deadlines.
  • Interested in costing, contract management, and documentation.
