Job summary

A leading insurance company in Kuala Lumpur is seeking a Project Manager to lead strategic IT projects. In this role, you will manage key projects, define scopes and deliverables, and communicate progress to upper management. The ideal candidate will have a bachelor's degree in Computer Science or IT, with at least 6 years of experience, including 3 years in IT software development. A PMP or PRINCE II certification is preferred, and excellent communication skills are essential for stakeholder management.

Project Manager

Job Function: The Project Manager main function is to manage organization’s key projects. Responsibilities include the initiating, planning, executing, monitoring and closing of the projects. The Project Manager will work directly with project stakeholders to ensure deliverables fall within the agreed time, scope and budget. The Project Manager prepares reports for upper management regarding status of project.

This role reports to the Head of IT PMO, and would also require to provide support and adequate assistance in the area of Project Management governance and other responsibilities related to PMO functions, where deemed necessary.

Responsibilities
  • Lead end-to-end management of strategic IT and business projects.
  • Define project scope, objectives, deliverables, and timelines in alignment with business goals.
  • Drive execution and track progress to ensure successful delivery.
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams, vendors, and senior stakeholders.
  • Provide clear project updates and reports to upper management.
  • Identify and mitigate risks, ensuring compliance with internal policies and regulatory standards.
  • Support the Head of IT PMO in promoting best practices and governance within the PMO function.
  • Assist in enhancing project frameworks, methodologies, and tools where necessary.
Requirements
  • Candidate must possess at least a bachelor’s degree, post graduate diploma, professional degree, Computer Science / Information Technology or equivalent.
  • At least 6 years of working experience in the related field is required for this position and 3 years of project experience in IT software development.
  • Preferably with exposure towards IT project management with insurance sector with PMP / PRINCE II certification.
  • Good communication skills to liaise with stakeholders and adequate time management ensuring on‑time delivery.
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills, with excellent verbal and written communication capability.
