Job summary

A healthcare facility in Malaysia is seeking an IT Support Specialist responsible for providing technical support for hospital systems and managing the Hospital Information System (HIS) and other clinical applications. The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's degree in IT or related field, 2-3 years of experience in IT support, and be knowledgeable about cybersecurity regulations. This role requires excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work under pressure in a clinical environment.

Job description

Provide technical support and troubleshooting for hospital systems, hardware, and software.

Maintain and monitor Hospital Information System (HIS), EMR, and other clinical applications.

Ensure minimal downtime of systems and coordinate with vendors for maintenance or repairs.

Manage and maintain hospital LAN/WAN, servers, and network devices (switches, routers, firewalls, etc.).

Monitor network performance, security, and connectivity across all departments.

Perform regular data backups and recovery testing.

Implement and monitor IT security policies in compliance with hospital and regulatory standards (e.g., PDPA Malaysia).

Safeguard patient data integrity and confidentiality.

Conduct regular system audits and security updates.

Assist in planning and implementing new IT projects, upgrades, and integrations.

Liaise with vendors for software updates, support, and new system implementation.

Support digital transformation and automation initiatives within the hospital.

Provide IT orientation and training to hospital staff on system usage and cybersecurity awareness.

Develop and maintain IT documentation, including system manuals, network diagrams, and asset inventory.

Job Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in information technology, Computer Science, or related field.
  • Minimum 2–3 years of IT support or system administration experience (healthcare environment preferred).
  • Knowledge of Windows/Linux servers and networking.
  • Familiar with HIS/EMR systems and database management (SQL).
  • Understanding of cybersecurity principles and data protection regulations.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities.
  • Good communication and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and in a clinical environment.
