Job Summary
We are looking for a skilled and detail-oriented I&C Engineer to support the operation, maintenance, and optimization of instrumentation and control systems across our advanced electronic manufacturing facility and on-site Data Center in Penang. This role ensures the accuracy, reliability, and integration of sensors, monitoring devices, control loops, and automation systems that are critical to the performance of HVAC, mechanical utilities, electrical systems, and environmental monitoring infrastructure.
Duties/Responsibilities
- Analyzes current equipment; identifies areas of inefficiency and needs for improvement; designs and develops instrumentation to meet those needs.
- Collaborates with other engineers to develop accurate, efficient equipment and instrumentation in accordance with safety and usability standards and client expectations.
- Designs and tests prototypes of equipment.
- Creates basic schematics and simulated models to test designs; modifies designs to meet specifications and budget requirements.
- Oversees the implementation of new measuring devices and control systems, ensuring devices are correctly installed and properly tested.
- Acts as project engineer for design, prototype fabrication, and manufacturing development.
- Drafts and presents formal technical documents, reports, and testing results to manager for approval.
- Drafts technical manuals for instrumentation.
- Provides training related to devices to employees and/or customers.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Supervisory Responsibilities
- May oversee technicians during the prototype fabrication and testing phases.
- Oversees the daily workflow of the department.
- Provides constructive and timely performance evaluations.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Instrumentation & Control, Electrical, Mechanical, or Mechatronics Engineering.
- Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in facilities I&C engineering within semiconductor, electronics, or high‑tech manufacturing environments.
- Hands‑on experience with BMS, EMS, SCADA, and PLC/DCS systems.
- Strong knowledge of industrial instrumentation for HVAC, utilities, and cleanroom environments.
- Familiarity with calibration standards, control loop tuning, and process automation best practices.
- Ability to interpret P&IDs, wiring diagrams, and control logic schematics.
- Proficiency with CMMS platforms (e.g., Maximo) for maintenance tracking.
- Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and communication skills.
- Able to work in a fast‑paced, production‑driven environment and support 24/7 operations when required.

- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Thorough understanding of test methods, digital and analog circuit design computers, and the design, development, and application of a wide variety of instruments.
- Thorough understanding of applied math and physics.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
- Proficient with computer-aided design (CAD) software.
