Job summary

A prominent construction firm in Kuala Lumpur seeks an experienced Inspector of Works specializing in Mechanical and Electrical projects. The ideal candidate should possess a recognized diploma or degree, be registered with Lembaga Jurutera Malaysia, and have at least 5 years of experience in supervising high-rise residential projects. Responsibilities include conducting site inspections, ensuring compliance with specifications, and maintaining quality standards throughout the construction process.

Qualifications

  • Graduated from a MQA recognized Diploma or Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
  • Registered with Lembaga Jurutera Malaysia (LJM) as Inspector of Works (IOW).
  • At least 5 years of working experience in high-rise construction.
  • Experience supervising high-rise residential projects.

Responsibilities

  • Carry out site inspections to ensure compliance with project specifications.

Job description
Inspector of Works (Mechanical&Electical)

To carry out site inspections to ensure compliance with the contact specification and drawings, current legislation and standard policy.

To assist, instruct and advise contractors on site, on matters related to quality control, and the interpretation of contact documents.

To prepare reports on progress, site activities and all other related matters.

To be responsible for the supervision and monitoring of construction works in accordance with the contract and construction drawings especially in respect of specifications, quality and time of completion.

To ensure that all materials delivered to site are conforming to the approved specifications and the project’s inspection test plan.

To identify all remedial/outstanding works to be carried out and to ensure that those works are carried out by the contractors or/andsubcontractors (of different trades) within the time stipulated in the contracts.

To regularly report to relevant superiors on the progress of the works and the problem areas encountered especially in respect of defective, outstanding or non-conforming works or delayed works.

To keep all relevant forms, documents, correspondences and records in respect of the progress of works such as daily work record which encompasses labor force, machinery and weather records.

To attend all site meetings and technical meetings as directed and when necessary.

To implement any and all relevant policies, procedures and work constructions as so defined in the Company’s Quality Management System.

Any and all other duties as and when assigned from time to time by the superior/management.

Inspect the materials used and ensure the quality of work being done is in compliance with QLASSIC.

To issue site memos, recording for non-compliance and provide recommendations for a solution(s).

Sign off inspection, test records and NCR.

Assist consultants for the approval/rejection of building materials at site.

Coordinate RFI, and liaise with consultants of all disciplines to ensure timely resolution to construction issues and design matters.

Monitoring the progress of the works and reporting to theM&E Consultantfor any delays and issues on site.

Measurement and verification for VO work.

Access work method statement and Record for completion of work.

Inspection for closure of defect rectification.

Assisting consultants for Final Account preparation.

To sign G Forms upon completion and certification of the works by the Architect.

Job Requirement

Graduated from a MQA (Malaysian Qualifying Agency) recognized Diploma or Degree of Mechanicalor Electrical Engineering.

Registered with Lembaga Jurutera Malaysia (LJM) as Inspector of Works (IOW).

Preferably with experiences in supervising high rise residential products or similar projects.

At least 5 years working experience in highrise construction

Initiative and able to work independently with minimum supervision.

Excellent interpersonal, communication, presentation, negotiation and reporting skills.

Experience in MS ISO 9001:2015 procedure (on site). Exposure to and experience with QLASSIC or CONQUAS standard.
