Job summary

A construction and design firm in Kuala Lumpur is seeking a skilled designer to prepare construction drawings and shop drawings for interior fit-outs. The successful candidate will coordinate with project managers, subcontractors, and clients to ensure compliance with design specifications. This role requires attention to detail and experience with CAD software. Fluent English is required for effective communication during site visits and project management.

Job description

Prepare complete construction drawings for interior fit-out works

Prepare and/or coordinate shop drawings

Review, update, and revise drawings based on site conditions, consultant comments, and authority requirements.

Coordinate closely with Project Managers, subcontractor, suppliers and manufacturers

Ensure all design elements are properly coordinated with MEP systems to avoid clashes.

Attend coordination meetings and provide design clarifications as required.

Liaise with clients, consultants, and authorities for approvals and design alignment.

3. Authority & Approval Submissions

Assist in preparation of drawings and documents for authority submissions where required.

Respond to comments from authorities, consultants, or clients and revise drawings accordingly.

Ensure approved drawings are issued for construction.

4. Site Support & Implementation

Provide design support during construction and fit-out stages.

Conduct site visits to verify compliance of works with approved drawings and design intent.

Review samples, mock-ups, and material submittals for compliance with design specifications.

Issue clarification drawings or sketches as needed to resolve site issues.

5. Quality Control & Documentation

Ensure accuracy, consistency, and coordination across all design and shop drawings.

Maintain proper drawing registers, revisions, and document control.

Support project close-out by providing as-built drawings related to interior design scope.

6. Value Engineering & Problem Solving

Propose alternative materials or details when required to meet budget, program, or site constraints.

Resolve design-related issues efficiently without compromising design intent or quality.
