Job summary

A leading environmental management firm in Lahad Datu is seeking an HSSE Officer to oversee and monitor safety, health, and environmental aspects of their operations. The role requires a degree in Occupational Health, Safety & Environmental, along with a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience. The ideal candidate should possess strong leadership and communication skills in both Bahasa Malaysia and English, and have experience in managing HSSE policies compliant with ISO standards. This position offers a dynamic work environment where safety is paramount.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in HSSE program development.
  • Registered with DOSH as Safety & Health Officer is a plus.
  • Experience with compliance to HSSE standards and regulations.

  • Manage HSSE policies implementation and compliance.
  • Conduct internal HSSE audits and support compliance audits.

Job description
Requirements:
  • Candidate must possess a Degree in Occupational (Health, Safety & Environmental) or equivalent.
  • Minimum 3 years’ working experience in developing and implementing HSSE programs.
  • Experience with establishment and management systems compliant to standards ISO 9001, ISO 45001 and ISO 14001.
  • Strong leadership and supervisory skills, matured, analytical, self-starter and ability to work independently & collaboratively.
  • Liaise with Department of Occupational Health & Safety, Department of Environment, and other professional organizations to maintain the plant’s progressive safety standards and requirements.
  • Must be able to communicate with Management as well as employees at all levels in the organization to ensure clear understanding of Company HSSE guidelines, rules, policies and procedures.
  • Proficient in Bahasa Malaysia and English (both written and speaking)
  • Registered with the Department of Occupational Safety and Health (DOSH) as a Safety & Health Officer (SHO) is an added advantage.
Responsibilities:
  • Oversee and monitor the plant on safety, health and environment aspect.
  • Direct and promote the plant in building a proactive safety culture.
  • Manage the implementation of HSSE policies, objectives and mission.
  • Ensure that the HSSE management systems are in compliance with HSSE policy, guidelines, applicable standards and instructions.
  • Support the conduct of audits, performs internal HSSE audits and job site audits.
  • Moderate events based on root cause analysis process (on demand).
  • Ensure compliance with respect to all statutory body requirement such as DOSH, DOE, BOMBA, local authority.
  • Well verse on Permit to Work/MOC compliance and procedures.
  • Implement and assure site controls for IOGP Life Saving Rules and Emergency Response.
  • Provide technical advice and recommendation to Management on HSSE based on Government and Industry standards.
  • Carry out other HSSE work activities as instructed by Management.
  • Investigate accidents to identify their causes and propose recommendation to prevent any future reoccurrences.
  • Collect data and statistics to perform trend analysis of incidents.
