Job description

HSE Engineer position requires basic knowledge in safety management and/or process safety fundamentals to support the development of HSE deliverables and technical safety studies in projects. The position reports functionally to the Senior Facilities Manager and will have the opportunity to work in a team setting within a dynamic work environment.

Primary Responsibility
  • In charge of all safety, health, environmental, fire protection and emergency response matters for the company, coordinate in the quarterly 6S audit planning in production and office.
  • Interpret federal, state and local regulations. Implement and supervise all EHS issues such as Fire Safety, Risk Assessment, OSHA & FMA regulations and other matters to ensure the company is in compliance with guidelines and regulations. Maintain records in accordance to appropriate standards and regulations.
  • Develop appropriate strategies to meet company EHS policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Host external related EHS audits.
Job Scope
  • Evaluating and controlling workplace hazards by applying principles of industrial safety and risk assessment to assess and document the risks to employees posed by chemical agents, noise, equipment and other hazards sources in the workplace, recommending and implementing appropriate controls.
  • Conduct safety inspections, provide safety training, and organize EHS activities for employees on regularly basis to promote safe working environment for the employees and to increase safety awareness and knowledge among all employees.
  • Investigate all safety & occupational health related injuries/accidents. Implement all corrective actions to prevent re-occurrence of injuries/ accidents. Collect data, analyze data and create reports, recommendations and communications.
  • Provide advice, assist, and audit line management to ensure that effective EHS is implemented to ensure that effective EHS is implemented.
  • Develop SOP for Environmental, Health and Safety issues for the company.
Job Related Experience
  • Coordinate 2nd (customer) and 3rd party (DOE, DOSH, BOMBA, Certification Body) audit including documentation, internal audits, management review, EHS objectives setting and others.
Knowledge
  • 3 years related work experience in environment, safety and health. Related experience in the related industry is an advantage.
Communication
  • Able to communicate with all levels in the organization.
  • Work with various levels of management to establish and execute processes and systems that support and reinforce management system elements.
  • Ability to understand and apply government regulations related to hazardous materials and wastes.
  • Good communication skills in both written and spoken English and Bahasa Malaysia.
  • Good command of Microsoft office.
  • Teamwork and collaboration skills.
  • Ensure compliance with statutory regulations on fire, health and safety standards.
  • Ensure all safety procedures, including Crisis Management/ Business Continuity and Emergency Procedures are maintained at all times.
Qualifications and Ideal Experiences
  • Bachelor’s Degree/ Master Degree in Safety Management preferred
  • Must be DOSH Registered Health, Safety Officer
  • 5 years of relevant working experience in data centre management will be an advantage.
  • Ability to prepare safety procedure and risk management document
  • Ability to do safety audits on periodic basis
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required.
  • Proven ability to execute multiple tasks efficiently and effectively.
  • Proven ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Demonstrated flexibility, organization, and self-motivation.
