Job summary

A leading medical devices manufacturer is seeking a Head of Production to oversee all plant operations in Johor, Malaysia. You will plan production, develop strategies to meet objectives, and ensure compliance with regulations. Ideal candidates will have at least 15 years in operations management, preferably in GMP environments, alongside strong leadership and interpersonal skills. This role demands familiarity with Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 15 years’ operations management experience, preferably within a GMP manufacturing environment.
  • Familiar with continuous improvement methodologies such as Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, 5S, Kaizen.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and a collaborative management style.

Job description

A leading medical devices manufacturer is looking for a Head of Production to lead all plant operations and plant efficiency initiatives. This position directly reports to the Operations Director.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Responsible for planning and scheduling of production operation
  • Developing and managing the strategies, plans and produce as per agreed plan with management to achieve the organizational and financial objectives of the company
  • Optimize utilization of equipment, systems, and resources to meet changing production demands
  • Setting and controlling budgets, targets and objectives (KPIs), and providing regular reports on progress in order to achieve the overall organizational and financial objectives
  • Ensuring compliance with eternal regulatory agencies and organizations
  • Developing a clear performance objective for the employees and ensuring that key roles are staffed with people who can effectively undertake their roles in the business and that the roles are clearly defined and understood
  • Implementing and maintaining TPM, 5S, Six Sigma and Lean Manufacturing initiatives
  • Effectively managing labor requirements, manpower planning, production planning, stock management, instrumentation calibration, plant improvement while developing innovative systems and processes
  • Improving processes and policies in support of organizational goals, formulating and implementing departmental and organizational policies and procedures to maximize output, and monitoring adherence to rules, regulations and procedures
  • Providing technical support and services and addressing production and quality issues to marketers whenever necessary
  • Support site leadership to ensure compliance with local government and regulatory requirements
Key Requirements:
  • Tertiary qualification in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering or related field of study
  • Minimum 15 years’ operations management experience, preferably within a GMP manufacturing environment, such as the medical devices, pharmaceutical or FMCG manufacturing industry
  • Familiar with continuous improvement methodologies such as Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, 5S, Kaizen, etc.
  • Prior experience working with colleagues from various functions across different regions
  • Proficient in SAP and Microsoft Office tools
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and a collaborative management style
  • Excels at operating in a fast pace, community environment
  • Strong leadership, interpersonal, management and collaborative skills
  • Strong team building, decision-making and people management skills
  • Ability to look at situations from several points of view
