• Reconcile and analyze various trial balance accounts.
• Execute month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing tasks.
• Collaborate closely with accounts payable and accounts receivable teams.

Job description

Position: GL Accountant (5-months-November through April, Maternity Cover)

Location: Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia – HYBRID (2-days office)

The GL accountant position is responsible for reviewing and reporting on various activities related to the operations, variance analysis, and month‑end processes. The accountant will also work closely with other functional teams on processes, and be a key voice in improving those processes they are involved in. This position will work closely with US and International operations related to GL Accounting including with the fixed assets. In addition, the position will perform key functions that will assist with SOX compliance and financial reporting.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

• Maintain accounting records including data entry of complete and accurate data for day‑to‑day business transactions for account payable, payroll, fixed asset, accounts receivable and all general ledger under US GAAP.
• Preparation of journal entries and other general ledger operations.
• Maintain fixed assets register listing for business units, execute and ensure depreciation is properly calculated and captured.
• Responsible for completeness, accuracy and timeliness of operations in the general ledger, fixed asset and intercompany accounts, as well as treasury transactions and bank reconciliations.
• Reconcile and analyze various trial balance accounts including, but not limited to, cash accounts, prepaid expenses, other assets, intercompany accounts and accruals.
• Execute month‑end, quarter‑end and year‑end closing and reporting tasks as.
• Research, reconcile and monitor accruals / prepaid accounts and prepare/propose related journal entries as needed.
• Collaborate closely with other finance functions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable and FP&A team.

Qualifications / Requirements

• 3-4 years of experience in SSC/MNC.
• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance.
• Microsoft D365 system experience.
• Understanding of US GAAP requirements added advantage.
• Team player, meticulous, able to work in tight datelines and meet timelines.

• Ability to work independently on projects with minimal guidance.
