COMPANY DESCRIPTION

We are a Malaysian-incorporated manufacturing company specializing in electronic components, particularly lead terminals for aluminum electrolytic capacitors, which are essential components used in a wide range of electronic devices. The company operates as a subsidiary of a well-established Japanese electronics group. We are seeking a highly capable and experienced General Manager to serve as the second-in-command to the Managing Director (MD). This role will oversee the overall operations of the company, including production, sales, and operations, while ensuring alignment with group strategies and Japanese headquarters’ expectations. The ideal candidate will be a Japanese speaker with strong leadership, cross‑functional management experience, and the ability to engage effectively with Japanese clients and stakeholders.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Overall Business & Operational Management
  • Support the Managing Director in overseeing the end-to-end operations of the company, including manufacturing, sales, operations, and administration.
  • Translate company strategy into executable plans and ensure effective implementation across departments.
  • Monitor business performance, operational efficiency, and key performance indicators (KPIs).
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives across production, quality, cost, delivery, and safety.
Production & Operations Oversight
  • Oversee manufacturing operations to ensure production targets, quality standards, and delivery schedules are met.
  • Work closely with the production and engineering teams to improve productivity, efficiency, and process optimization.
  • Ensure compliance with quality systems, internal policies, and applicable ISO or industry standards.
  • Support cost control initiatives and operational budgeting.
Sales & Client Management
  • Oversee and support the sales function, including business development, customer relationship management, and order fulfillment.
  • Actively engage with Japanese clients, providing leadership-level communication, negotiation, and relationship management.
  • Support pricing, contract discussions, and long-term customer strategies in collaboration with sales and MD.
  • Ensure customer satisfaction and alignment with Japanese business expectations and standards.
Japan HQ & Stakeholder Communication
  • Serve as a key liaison between the Malaysia subsidiary and Japan headquarters.
  • Communicate business updates, operational performance, and strategic matters clearly and effectively to Japan HQ.
  • Participate in management meetings with Japan HQ, including reporting, planning, and follow-up actions.
  • Support alignment of local operations with group policies, governance, and corporate direction.
Leadership & People Management
  • Provide leadership and direction to department heads and senior managers.
  • Support talent development, succession planning, and organizational capability building.
  • Promote a strong performance-driven culture while respecting Japanese corporate values and local practices.
  • Support HR and management in handling key people-related matters when required.
Governance, Compliance & Risk Management
  • Ensure compliance with internal controls, company policies, and statutory requirements.
  • Support audit processes, risk management, and corporate governance initiatives.
  • Act as the MD’s delegate when required, ensuring continuity of leadership and decision‑making.
