Financial Controller (Experienced in Construction Industry)

We’re looking for a sharp and motivated Financial Controller to lead the Finance Department across our growing Group of Companies. You’ll work closely with BOD and Finance Manager to drive financial performance, oversee related company accounts, and prepare the group for a potential IPO.
This role is designed for a strong leader who can provide strategic financial guidance and be involved in day-to-day accounting.
- Lead the Corporate Finance team and deliver effective, engaged, business‑unit‑respectful management.
- Build productive relationships with stakeholders to understand business operations and financial information needs.
- Align with Group strategy and decisions through collaborative relationships.
- Manage Group cash flows, banking, treasury, cash flow forecasting, funding, credit cards, and project financing applications.
- Oversee Group financial reporting obligations, including preparation and lodgment of compliant full‑year and half‑year consolidated accounts.
- Ensure Group statutory taxation obligations are met.
- Design, implement and review finance systems, policies and procedures for continuous improvement.
- Maintain transaction flows from source through interfaces to the general ledger.
- Maintain finance ledgers on a timely, accurate, and complete basis for internal users and statutory purposes.
- Deliver reporting functions and ad‑hoc financial information requests.
- Prepare annual budgets for holding company entities.
- Collaborate on consolidated key finance activities, governance and internal control activities.
- Build team capability and personal effectiveness for current and future roles.
- Lead IPO‑related tasks: audited financials, investor materials, and due diligence; strengthen internal controls, governance, and compliance; liaise with auditors, investment bankers, legal advisors, and regulators.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting; CPA, CA, or ACCA certification is required.
- At least 10‑15 years of financial management experience, ideally in construction.
- In‑depth knowledge of construction accounting practices, including WIP accounting and cost management.
- Exceptional leadership, analytical, and communication abilities.
- Proven track record of managing multiple projects and meeting deadlines in a dynamic environment.
- Demonstrated capability in leading & managing an operational team and practical people‑management practices.
- Ability and willingness to take a practical approach and undertake work at an operational level.
- Prior specialization in taxation, financial reporting &/or audit.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proven ability to understand key financial and business variables in a complex and changing commercial environment.
