Job description

EverLantern Group is seeking an experienced Financial Controller to join their team in Perak. As the Financial Controller, you will play a critical role in overseeing the financial operations and reporting for the Group. This full-time position is an excellent opportunity for a talented individual to make a significant impact on the organisation's financial success.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Prepare consolidated financial statements for the group, ensuring accuracy and compliance with accounting standards.
  • Manage month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing for the parent company and subsidiaries.
  • Review and monitor intercompany transactions, balances, and reconciliations.
  • Ensure statutory reporting and regulatory compliance across all entities.
  • Act as the main liaison with external auditors, tax agents, and regulators for group-level audits and filings.
Budgeting, Forecasting & Analysis
  • Lead the preparation of annual budgets and rolling forecasts for the group and subsidiaries.
  • Consolidate and review business unit budgets, ensuring alignment with group strategy.
  • Provide management with financial analysis, KPIs, variance reports, and recommendations.
  • Support management in investment evaluations, capital expenditure proposals, and long‑term financial planning.
Cash Flow & Treasury
  • Monitor group cash flow, working capital, and funding requirements.
  • Oversee subsidiary cash flow planning and ensure adequate liquidity across the group.
  • Manage relationships with banks and financial institutions for group financing needs.
  • Optimize intercompany fund transfers, dividends, and capital injections.
Internal Controls & Governance
  • Standardize accounting policies, procedures, and reporting across subsidiaries.
  • Strengthen internal controls and ensure risk management practices are in place.
  • Ensure compliance with local statutory requirements for each subsidiary.
  • Implement systems and processes for efficiency and accuracy across entities.
  • Supervise accounting teams in the parent company and oversee finance staff in subsidiaries.
  • Provide training, mentoring, and guidance to ensure consistent standards.
  • Foster collaboration between group and subsidiary finance teams.
Requirements
  • A bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, or a related field is usually required. Some organizations may prefer candidates with a master’s degree in business administration (MBA) or a professional certification such as Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA).
  • Several years of relevant experience in finance or accounting roles, including experience in financial reporting, analysis, and management.
  • Strong knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) or International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS), depending on the jurisdiction.
  • Proficiency in financial software systems, spreadsheet analysis, and financial modeling.
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills to interpret financial data and provide meaningful insights.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
  • Strong leadership and management skills to lead and develop the accounting team.
