Facilities Maintenance Engineer (M&E Focus)

Requirements

  • Education
    • Degree or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, or a related M&E field.
  • Work Experience
    • Minimum 3 years of relevant working experience in facilities maintenance, plant engineering, or M&E operations, preferably in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
  • Technical Knowledge & Skills
    • Strong knowledge of M&E systems including power distribution systems, water supply and drainage systems, HVAC systems, and related plant utilities.
    • Familiarity with preventive maintenance planning, troubleshooting, and emergency repair of facilities and equipment.
    • Knowledge of energy management, utilities cost control, and consumption monitoring for water, electricity, and gas.
    • Experience in calibration, inspection, and compliance management of special equipment such as pressure vessels and lifting equipment is an advantage.
  • Regulatory & Safety Knowledge
    • Familiar with Malaysia’s industrial safety regulations and standards, including DOSH requirements.
    • Strong awareness of workplace safety, risk assessment, and hazard identification.
  • Project & Coordination Skills
    • Experience in coordinating facility renovation or infrastructure upgrade projects.
    • Able to liaise effectively with internal teams, contractors, vendors, and local authorities.
  • Computer Literacy
    • Basic to intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) for reporting, documentation, and data tracking.
  • Personal Attributes
    • Able to work independently with minimal supervision.
    • Strong sense of responsibility and problem-solving mindset.
    • Willing to respond to emergency repair tasks, including off-duty or shift periods.
    • Good communication and teamwork skills.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the full-lifecycle operation and maintenance management of infrastructure facilities and equipment in the new Malaysia plant.
  • Ensure the stable operation of core systems including power distribution system (compliant with local regulatory standards), power system, water supply and drainage system, and HVAC system.
  • Respond promptly and efficiently to daily emergencies and equipment faults to minimize production disruption risks.
  • Develop and optimize daily inspection plans for on-site technical personnel.
  • Define key inspection priorities tailored to Malaysia’s local climatic and geological conditions (e.g., flood prevention for water supply and drainage systems during rainy seasons, load monitoring of HVAC equipment under high-temperature environments).
  • Lead the identification and rectification of potential safety hazards and equipment failure risks.
  • Conduct regular on-site inspections at the plant.
  • Provide guidance to the local technical team on standardized equipment operation and scheduled maintenance.
  • Strictly verify the compliance and service quality of maintenance processes to ensure alignment with Malaysia’s industrial safety management regulations.
  • Take charge of energy consumption statistics and cost control of water, electricity, and gas in the plant.
  • Coordinate with local energy supply authorities for fee settlement.
  • Lead the regular calibration and annual inspection of special equipment (e.g., pressure vessels, lifting equipment) to ensure 100% compliance with the relevant regulations of Malaysia’s Department of Occupational Safety and Health (DOSH).
  • Coordinate technical communication, project implementation and acceptance for plant infrastructure renovation projects.
  • Liaise with internal and external stakeholders to ensure the renovation projects proceed in a compliant and efficient manner.
