A major construction firm in Johor is seeking an individual with a Degree in Quantity Surveying & Building Technology. Candidates should have at least 1 year of related experience, particularly in high-rise residential projects, along with strong analytical and negotiation skills.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Establish and monitor tender schedule to ensure targets are met.
  • Control project cost and ensure overall budget is maintained.
  • Evaluate contractor’s bid and monitor cost elements.
  • Ensure compliance with statutory requirements and QESHMS.

Description
  • Establish and monitor tender schedule closely to ensure that targets and timelines are met
  • Minimize the value and amount of variation and order (VO) as well as avoid extension of time (EoT)
  • Ensure timely certification to suppliers and monitor contract and cost management
  • Exercise timely and accurate completion of Final Account
  • Obtain competitive bid and award tender in a timely manner as per schedule
  • Control project cost and ensure overall project budget is maintained from inception to completion
  • Assist in preparing departmental business plan review, cost budget, strategic sourcing, and quarterly review of construction cost
  • Evaluate contractor’s bid and advise on competitiveness of price, and monitor the cost of major cost elements
  • Handle a team of consultants, main contractors, sub-contractors and suppliers to deliver the projects based on time, cost, quality, environmental, safety and health compliance
  • Implement all policies, activities, procedures, instructions as relevant and required by the QESHMS
  • Ensure compliance to relevant statutory requirements at all times, including QESHMS in line with ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and ISO 45001 standards, International Standards, local regulations, code of practices, and legal requirements
  • Take responsibility for prevention of work‑related injury and ill health
  • Determine risks, opportunities and plan actions and ensure they are implemented

Experience

Technical Skills
  • Well versed with prevailing market prices of construction works and building materials

  • Knowledge of property development SOPs will be an added advantage
