Job summary

A construction and environmental management firm is seeking an Environmental Manager to develop and maintain the Environmental Management Plan, ensuring compliance with regulations and client requirements. The ideal candidate should have a Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science and a minimum of 3 years' experience in environmental management, preferably within the construction sector. Strong knowledge of ISO standards and excellent problem-solving skills are essential. The position involves site inspections, monitoring air quality, and liaising with regulatory authorities.

JOB DESCRIPTION
  • Develop, implement, and maintain the site-specific Environmental Management Plan (EMP).
  • Ensure compliance with environmental legislation, regulations, permits, and client requirements.
  • Conduct environmental inspections and audits of construction activities.
  • Monitor air quality, noise, dust, water discharge, and waste management on-site.
  • Identify and assess environmental risks and develop mitigation strategies.
  • Oversee waste segregation, storage, and disposal in accordance with regulations.
  • Maintain records of environmental incidents, near misses, and corrective actions.
  • Conduct environmental awareness training and toolbox talks for site staff and contractors.
  • Liaise with local authorities, environmental consultants, and regulatory bodies as required.
  • Participate in internal and external audits, site inspections, and environmental assessments.
  • Prepare and submit environmental reports, monitoring data, and documentation to relevant stakeholders.
  • Recommend improvements in environmental performance and sustainability practices.
QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE
  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, or related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years' experience in environmental management, preferably in the construction or civil engineering sector.
  • Strong knowledge of environmental regulations, standards, and best practices.
  • Experience with ISO 14001 Environmental Management Systems is an advantage.
  • Familiarity with construction site operations and health & safety protocols.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficient in MS Office and environmental monitoring/reporting tools.
