A leading construction company in Malaysia is seeking an experienced Environment Officer responsible for ensuring compliance with environmental regulations and conducting site inspections. The ideal candidate must hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Science and possess 2-5 years of relevant experience, preferably in the construction industry. The role involves liaising with authorities, preparing reports, and providing support for environmental best practices. Strong communication, teamwork, and leadership skills are essential for success in this position.
As Environment Officer, you will be responsible for :
Ensure compliance with the Environmental Quality Act 1974, Department of Environment (DOE) Malaysia regulations, and project-specific environmental requirements.
Conduct site inspections and environmental impact assessments to ensure proper waste management, including hazardous and non-hazardous materials.
Provide environmental technical support for the project, including the preparation and implementation of process technology solutions and commissioning solutions.
Handle project-related acceptance procedures, including environmental acceptance and project completion acceptance.
Investigate environmental incidents and recommend corrective actions.
Conduct training sessions and awareness programs to promote environmental best practices.
Liaise with DOE Malaysia, local authorities, other departments, internal teams, and subcontractors to integrate environmental best practices.
Prepare reports and documentation related to environmental aspects.
Conduct inspections and audits as required by the Environmental law.
Conduct regular checks to identify risks, ensure compliance, and recommend improvements.
To advise management on all matters pertaining to Environmental issue.
Supervise the activities of Environmental program and also to coordinate the activities with Safety and Health Supervisors.
Monitor the Schedule waste area and storage and its requirement.
Bachelor’s Degree / Diploma in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Occupational Safety & Health, or related field.
Professional certification in Environmental Management is an added advantage.
Minimum 2–5 years of working experience in environmental management, preferably in the construction / infrastructure industry.
Hands-on experience in highway, bridge, and road projects is highly preferred.
Familiarity with Department of Environment (DOE) requirements, Environmental Quality Act 1974, and related Malaysian environmental laws.
Good communication skills to liaise with DOE, local authorities, subcontractors, and internal teams.
Proactive, detail-oriented, and able to work independently with minimal supervision.
Experience in handling hazardous & non-hazardous waste disposal procedures.
Knowledge of ISO 14001 Environmental Management System is an advantage.
Good teamwork and leadership skills to coordinate with Safety & Health supervisors.
