Job Title: English Teacher – Kids / Junior Program
Immediate Supervisor: Head of Academics / Academic Manager
Candidates must meet all of the following criteria:
- Bachelor’s degree in English, TESL, Education, Early Childhood Education, or a related field.
- Possess an internationally recognized English teaching qualification (TESOL, TEFL, CELTA, etc.).
- Fluent in spoken and written English.
- Minimum two (2) years of teaching experience with children or young learners.
- Demonstrate creativity, patience, and strong classroom management skills.
- Familiar with Communicative Language Teaching (CLT) and task-based learning approaches suitable for younger students.
Job Scope:
The Kids / Junior English Teacher at Stratford English Centre is responsible for delivering interactive, engaging, and age-appropriate English lessons that develop students’ communication skills, confidence, and love for learning. The teacher ensures lessons balance fun, structure, and progress while maintaining a safe and encouraging classroom environment.
Key Responsibilities
Teaching & Learning
- Deliver student-centered, communicative lessons aligned with Stratford’s Kids / Junior curriculum.
- Use songs, games, storytelling, visuals, and interactive activities to make learning enjoyable and effective.
- Design lesson plans that integrate listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills in age-appropriate ways.
- Conduct and mark assessments, projects, and presentations according to Stratford’s academic policies.
- Support the development of foundational grammar and vocabulary through engaging, meaningful practice.
Classroom Management
- Maintain a safe, positive, and disciplined learning environment.
- Apply positive reinforcement to encourage participation and good behavior.
- Manage transitions, routines, and activities effectively to maintain student focus.
- Communicate promptly with the Academic Department about behavioral or academic concerns.
Student Engagement & Support
- Encourage confidence and teamwork through pair and group activities.
- Provide individual feedback and support based on each child’s progress and learning style.
- Motivate students through fun challenges, creative tasks, and reward systems.
Professional Conduct & Collaboration
- Attend monthly teachers’ meetings, training sessions, and professional development workshops.
- Coordinate with co-teachers, teaching assistants, and the Academic Manager to ensure lesson continuity and consistency.
- Participate in school events, holiday programs, and student showcases related to the Junior Program.
- Communicate professionally with parents when required regarding students’ progress or conduct.
- Follow Stratford’s academic policies, safety procedures, and conduct guidelines.
Performance Evaluation
Teachers in the Kids / Junior Program will be evaluated based on:
- Lesson quality and creativity.
- Student engagement and classroom atmosphere.
- Classroom management and discipline.
- Communication with staff, parents, and students.
- Punctuality, professionalism, and adherence to Stratford’s policies.
