Job summary

A leading recruitment firm in Malaysia is looking for an Industrial Engineer to enhance manufacturing efficiency through cost analysis and system improvements. Responsibilities include conducting feasibility studies, managing budgets, and monitoring project statuses. The ideal candidate will have a degree in Industrial Engineering or Operations Management, with 1-2 years of relevant experience and knowledge of SAP and Microsoft Office. Familiarity with food manufacturing principles will be an advantage.

Job description
  • Conducts cost analysis, time and motion studies, feasibility studies, system analysis to ensure work methods improvement and cost saving concepts.
  • Conducts cost analysis, time and motion studies, feasibility studies, system analysis to ensure work methods improvement and cost saving concepts.
  • Ensures that the standard set specifications are being met to attain good quality products.
  • Establishes the routing standards of variable overhead, fixed overhead and direct labour.
  • Evaluates effectiveness of manufacturing flow and provide options/recommendations to resolve identified procedural gaps.
  • Recommends effective actions for productivity improvement.
  • Analyses and synthesizes information through engineering principles and methodology.
  • Reviews change on process parameters that affect product quality and productivity (machine/manpower efficiency).
  • Recommends and influences decision on cost efficient corrective measures in case of deviation from processes and parameters.
Manufacturing Management
  • Analyses and recommends action plans on manufacturing systems, processes and procedures.
  • Provides analytical basis in making management decision on utilization of manpower and equipment, optimization of materials to achieve target yield, productivity.
  • Analyses complex problems (processes and systems) to develop and evaluate options and implement workable solutions.
  • Evaluates data on productivity (material variance, direct labour, machine efficiency, VOH).
  • Reviews machine performance vis-a-vis standard production output in order to comply to the realization of production plans.
Budget Management
  • Prepares yearly headcount budget to ensure structural manning deployment timely and efficient service.
  • Provide monthly reports to Accounting Department on man-hours and weekly schedule monitoring.
  • Analyses budget on plant level. Consolidates of OPEX and CAPEX budget.
  • Analyses and interpret Gros Profit Statement.
Project Management
  • Ensures implementation new Information System (IS) in the plant.
  • Provides support to all department units in facilitating and monitoring of Profit Improvement Programs and Initiatives.
  • Recommends work methods improvement and cost savings concepts to the Operations Manager.
  • Performs other functions as may be assigned by the superior from time to time.
  • Conceptualizes project plan (engineering design and lay out equipment) based on requirements.
  • Monitors project status, evaluate services of contractors prior to turn over to process owner and plan cost effective use of resources and deployment services.
Requirements
  • Degree graduate in Industrial Engineering or Operations Management
  • With at least 1-2 years relevant work experience related to Industrial Engineering
  • Knowledge in SAP (is a plus) environment and Microsoft Office.
  • Understand the food manufacturing and operational principles of products and machine specification of the plant is an added advantage.
  • Understand and can execute operational tools such as lean sigma, process analysis, time study, operation analysis and line balancing
