Job summary

A leading company in the data storage industry is hiring for a position focused on Employee Relations. The role requires managing disciplinary matters, conducting investigations, and providing policy guidance. Candidates should possess a Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources or Law, along with 4–8 years of experience in Employee Relations. Strong analytical skills and the ability to build relationships at all levels are essential for success in this position. This is a permanent role located in Penang.

Responsibilities

  • Handle full spectrum of Employee Relations tasks.

  • Develop and conduct ER-related training sessions.
  • Draft and execute disciplinary letters and reports.
  • Prepare weekly ER/IR reports.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Handle full spectrum of Employee Relations (ER) tasks including disciplinary matters, staff counselling, grievance handling, labour disputes, domestic inquiries (DI), termination processes, and ER procedures in compliance with labour laws.

  • Serve as the main point of contact for ER matters for employees and people managers.

  • Conduct and support investigations and provide sound recommendations to both business and employees.

  • Provide ER policy and procedure guidance to stakeholders.

  • Lead or participate in ER-related projects.

  • Develop and conduct people manager training modules and other ER-related training sessions.

  • Draft and execute disciplinary letters and investigation reports.

  • Prepare weekly ER/IR reports and track disciplinary records.

  • Oversee and support leaders in executing Performance Improvement Plans (PIP).

QUALIFICATIONS
Required
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources, Law, or equivalent.

  • 4–8 years of hands‑on Employee Relations / Industrial Relations experience.

SKILLS
  • Strong judgment and decision‑making ability in evaluating employee matters.

  • Excellent coaching skills to build capability in performance improvement, equitable practices, and workplace respect policies.

  • Experience managing grievances, conducting investigations, and advising on a broad range of ER issues:

    • manager–employee conflicts

    • complaints handling

    • performance management

    • behavioural and conduct issues

  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills with the ability to organize and interpret data.

  • Ability to build strong relationships across all levels and functions.

  • Effective listener and persuasive communicator capable of influencing outcomes.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of labour laws.

  • Knowledge in union management is an added advantage.
