Position Title: Elementary School Homeroom Teacher

Reports To: Elementary School Principal

About the Role

We are seeking an enthusiastic and experienced educator to teach in the IB Primary Years Programme (PYP) as an Elementary School Homeroom Teacher. This role provides the opportunity to foster students’ academic, social, and emotional growth through inquiry-based learning. The successful candidate will collaborate with colleagues to design meaningful, transdisciplinary learning experiences and support a safe, inclusive, and engaging classroom environment.

Key Responsibilities
Curriculum and Instruction
  • Plan and deliver engaging, inquiry-based lessons aligned with IB PYP and American curriculum standards.
  • Integrate transdisciplinary themes to create real-world, meaningful learning connections.
  • Incorporate age-appropriate activities that promote critical thinking, creativity, and problem-solving.
  • Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of diverse learners, including those with varying abilities and special educational needs.
Planning and Collaboration
  • Collaborate with homeroom and specialist teachers to integrate curriculum across subject areas.
  • Develop lesson plans and classroom resources aligned with student needs and interests.
  • Participate in planning school-wide events that enrich learning and foster community.
Assessment and Feedback
  • Use formative and summative assessments to evaluate student progress and achievement.
  • Maintain accurate records of student performance and provide regular, constructive feedback to students and parents.
  • Participate in parent-teacher conferences and submit progress reports as required.
Resource and Classroom Management
  • Maintain an organized and resource-rich classroom environment.
  • Collaborate with school leadership to propose and secure resources that enhance learning experiences.
Professional Development and Engagement
  • Lead or attend professional development sessions focused on best practices in teaching and learning.
  • Participate in grade-level and school team meetings, professional learning communities, and collaborative projects.
  • Engage in continuous professional development to stay informed on innovative teaching strategies and PYP methodologies.
Communication and Leadership
  • Maintain clear communication with students, parents, colleagues, and administrators regarding classroom activities and student progress.
  • Prepare newsletters, presentations, and updates to keep the school community informed and engaged.
  • Foster a positive, inclusive classroom environment that encourages student voice and engagement.
Student Support and Safety
  • Ensure the safety and well-being of students during class, break times, field trips, and other school activities.
  • Implement strategies that support social-emotional learning, resilience, and positive relationships.
Additional Responsibilities
  • Supervise at least two after-school clubs, sports, or activities.
  • Assist with school-day duties, including break and lunchtime supervision.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education or a related field (Master’s preferred).
