At Te Mātāpuna Fonterra, we want everyone to feel they can be themselves.

Whether you're early in your career or ready for your next step, Fonterra offers a unique opportunity to grow with a global dairy co-operative that values care, collaboration, and contribution.

Owned by New Zealand dairy farmers and supported by a dedicated team, we are all working together to create a better future. Imagine tomorrow with us, where your career can grow, and you can create positive change.

Located in the sunny eastern Bay of Plenty, our Edgecumbe site has been manufacturing dairy products since 1923. These products are sent to over 50 countries around the world, with many of Edgecumbe’s major customers based in Korea, Japan, and China.

Joining our team as an Electrician/Instrumentation Technician, you’ll be key to ensuring we always produce a high-quality product, as you carry out a range of calibration and breakdown response work each day.

This is a great opportunity to display your strong attention to detail and problem-solving mindset as you carry out calibration, preventative maintenance tasks, and repairs on a huge variety of control systems and measuring equipment across our site. From a wide range of measuring devices to control valves, motor control centres to the motors—you’ll be across it all, ensuring all work is completed in accordance with Fonterra Standards. Leaving no process unfinished, you’ll also complete the required documentation in SAP and supporting applications to ensure our records and history are always correct and up to date.

Please note: This is a fixed-term opportunity working on four days on, three days off roster and will be subject to after-hour callouts.

You will be a forward-thinking team member striving for success and continuous improvement. With ambitions of taking this site to the next level, you will bring excellent communication and an enthusiastic approach as you develop collaborative relationships quickly.

Utilising your strong technical ability, you will thrive in an environment requiring you to think on your feet as you confidently problem-solve and troubleshoot the task at hand.

We want to hear from you if you have:

  • Qualifications & Experience: Electrical & Instrumentation trade (minimum), with desirable experience in Explosive Equipment Hazardous Areas, High Voltage, and advanced trade skills
  • Technical Expertise: Advanced fault-finding skills, calibration and verification of instruments, pneumatics, and PLC experience
  • Maintenance Capability: Skilled in both preventative and reactive maintenance, as well as project work
  • Leadership & Development: Strong communication and leadership to support the team, with a commitment to training and upskilling self and apprentices
  • Team & Communication Skills: Collaborative team player with a strong team ethic, excellent communication, and willingness to help and learn

We care for our people globally. Our comprehensive benefits support your well-being, development, and work-life balance:

  • Fair and equitable pay
  • Health and well-being programs (medical, mental health support)
  • Professional development opportunities
  • Work-life balance options (flexible/hybrid working where possible)
  • Parental leave support
  • Support for community involvement and cultural connection
