Job description
Management of department to ensure efficient and effective daily operational activities.
  • Anticipating potential risk and execute appropriate action to ensure safe environment i.e. assist to monitor and ensure nurses practice and adhere to infection control guidelines and policy.
  • Demonstrating operational knowledge of nursing procedure and assist to guide nurses as required.
  • Assuming leadership role for others and assist them with their responsibilities in the unit.
  • Work as part of a health care team, assist to guide nurses to assess patient needs, plan and modify care and implement interventions.
  • Managing resources/supplies to achieve optimum productivity and enhance cost containment i.e. assist to approve inventory order and ensure accurate charging.
  • Demonstrate positive attitude towards responsibilities, work place and colleagues by adhering to company rules and policy i.e. punctuality and assist to monitor staffs’ compliance in rules and regulations. Feedback to respective Head of Department accordingly.

Administrative Function
Establish the standard and competencies of the nurses to provide safe and effective nursing services to customer. It is achieve by:
  • Attend efficiently and timely to the needs of customers and address customer’s complaint promptly.
  • Escalate as required.
  • Assist to create awareness among staffs on safety and health care standards and monitor compliance.
  • Assist to monitor and enhance the quality of service offered to the customers.
  • Assist to motivate and developing staffs towards customer centric culture and feedback accordingly.
  • Assist staff to improve their commitment in customer service mindset.
  • Assist in analyzing customers’ feedback pertaining to nursing service and bed allocation and make improvement as required.
  • Assist in reviewing incident report on a timely basis and undertake necessary actions as required.
  • Assist in strengthening and enhancing interdepartmental relationships.
  • Assist in bed allocation as required.
Manage unit operation efficiently to ensure effective productivity in line with organization goals. It is achieve by:
  • Assist in effective utilization and maintenance of resources ie: ensure wards is appropriately staffed by deploying and arranging staff to do overtime.
  • Manage utilization of consumable items and medical equipment.
  • Assist to locate medical equipment/ consumable when required especially after hours.
  • Assist in establishing/ reviewing Standard Operating Procedures to ensure staff commitment.
  • Participate in product evaluation according to standard as required.
  • Participate in corporate marketing and business development when necessary.
  • Involve healthcare promotion and activities as required.
  • Undertaking project as assigned.
  • Being vigilant and monitor to avoid pilferage.
  • Assist and guide in contact tracing and infection control requirements when required.
Perform any other duties assigned to meet company and department goals and objectives. For example:
  • Participate in other related activities by the department, division and organization to ensure the continued growth and smooth-running of the department and SunMed.
  • Participate actively in learning and development interventions identified by company to acquire required knowledge and skills for current and/or future job.
  • Participate in internal audit to identify service standards gaps.

Administer professionalism and ethics. It is achieve by:
  • Effective communication and collaboration with all parties concerned to ensure the best clinical outcome for the customer.
  • Establish protocols in handling emergency situations.
  • Maintain professional and polite customer-based approach at all the time in solving issues.
  • Contribute to improvement of departmental performance activities while maintaining proper quality of standards.
  • Systematically hand over report and responsibilities during shift transition.
  • Advocate hospital rules and regulation to address patient’s problem and abide the MOH guidelines.
  • Carry out duties according to statutory competencies and maintain codes of professional conduct at work.
