Job description

The Deputy General Manager - Manufacturing is responsible for supporting and strengthening the overall leadership of manufacturing operations across all entities, including overseas operations. The role ensures operational efficiency, compliance, consistency of standards, and execution of strategic manufacturing objectives while acting as the key operational extension of the General Manager - Manufacturing in driving performance, governance, and continuous improvement.

Responsibilities
  • Lead manufacturing operations to achieve business objectives while driving productivity, quality, delivery performance, and cost efficiency.
  • Ensure compliance with safety, quality, regulatory, and governance standards, including asset protection and risk management.
  • Optimise inventory levels, material planning, and workforce resources to support efficient and uninterrupted production.
  • Drive capital projects, automation initiatives, and process improvements, and support local and overseas expansion activities.
  • Lead, develop, and engage production teams, supporting performance management and succession planning.
  • Provide regular operational reporting and act as the key liaison between manufacturing operations and senior management.
  • Work closely with GM and MD to ensure expansion initiatives align with strategic growth objectives and operational feasibility.

Strong capability to manage manufacturing processes, supply chain, inventory, and production teams.

Project & expansion management

Skilled in overseeing local and international expansion projects, including budgeting, resourcing, and risk management.

Ability to coach, mentor, and develop high-performing teams; succession planning experience preferred.

Problem-solving & decision-making

Analytical, solution-oriented, and able to make timely decisions under pressure.

Cross-functional collaboration

Able to work with HR, Finance, Sales, Procurement, and Logistics effectively.

Communication & stakeholder management

Clear, concise, and persuasive communication skills; ability to report to senior management and liaise with overseas teams.

Change & continuous improvement mindset

Familiar with lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, or operational excellence methodologies.

Integrity & accountability

High ethical standards and personal accountability in all actions and decisions.

Requirements
  • Master or Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Industrial Management, or related field.
  • Professional certifications in Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, Operations Management, or Project Management are advantageous.
  • Minimum 10 to 15 years of progressive experience in manufacturing operations, with at least 5 years in a senior management role.
  • Proven experience in multi-site operations management, including overseas or cross-border operations.
  • Demonstrated experience in production planning, cost control, quality management, and operational excellence initiatives.
  • Exposure to expansion projects, including pre-implementation planning, operational cost forecasting, manpower planning, production projection, and post-implementation evaluation.
  • Track record of leading diverse teams, driving change, and implementing improvement projects successfully.
  • Willingness and ability to travel locally and internationally as required.
  • Proficient in manufacturing ERP systems, MS Office, and operational reporting tools.
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities effectively.
