JOB SUMMARY
The Deputy General Manager (DGM) will provide strategic leadership and operational oversight for the Logistics Business Unit. The role is responsible for driving business growth, operational excellence, and financial performance while ensuring strong governance and compliance with corporate policies and regulatory requirements.
The DGM will lead cross‑functional teams, oversee P&L management, manage customer and stakeholder relationships, and formulate long‑term strategies to strengthen the company’s competitiveness within the logistics industry.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Strategic & Financial Management
- Formulate and execute development strategies to drive business growth, improve operational efficiency, and increase profitability.
- Oversee P&L performance, budgeting, financial forecasting, and overall resource allocation.
- Analyze financial results versus budget, identify variances, and implement corrective actions for cost optimization and profitability improvement.
- Assess existing financial, operational, sales, and marketing structures to drive continuous improvement and enhance organizational performance.
Operational Leadership
- Oversee overall logistics operations to ensure service quality, productivity, efficiency, and timely performance.
- Monitor operational processes, resource utilization, and cost structures to ensure optimization and waste reduction.
- Drive implementation of best practices, process improvements, and operational enhancements across the business.
Governance, Compliance & Audit
- Ensure full compliance with Parent Company’s corporate policies and SOPs, as well as relevant Malaysian legal and regulatory requirements.
- Develop or refine guidelines and operational SOPs where required, and ensure consistent compliance across all business entities.
- Act as the primary liaison for the rollout and implementation of new Parent Company policies and SOPs.
- Support all internal and external audit activities, including secondment‑related audits and post‑secondment compliance matters.
Business Development & Market Growth
- Identify emerging industry trends, new business opportunities, and strategic partnerships that support sustainable growth.
- Lead tender submissions, commercial proposals, and key customer negotiations.
- Build and strengthen relationships with customers, vendors, overseas teams, and industry stakeholders.
- Lead, motivate, and develop employees at all levels toward building a high-performing, collaborative workforce.
- Provide leadership training and development pathways for managerial staff.
- Cultivate a positive, ethical, and values-driven work culture aligned with corporate standards.
- Develop a robust succession plan to ensure smooth transition and continuity of leadership responsibilities.
Performance Monitoring & Reporting
- Establish, monitor, and review KPIs to ensure operational and business targets are achieved.
- Prepare periodic business performance reports, financial summaries, and strategic recommendations to the Parent Company.
- Ensure timely reporting of operational challenges, risks, and resource requirements.
Ethics & Professional Conduct
- Uphold the highest standards of integrity, professionalism, and ethical behavior in all business dealings.
- Avoid conflicts of interest, promote transparency, and ensure the company operates free from bribery, corruption, or unethical practices.
REQUIREMENTS
Educational Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Operations Management, or relevant discipline (preferred but not mandatory).
- MBA or postgraduate qualification is an advantage.
Experience
- Minimum 10–15 years of leadership experience in the logistics industry or related sectors.
- Proven track record in managing operations, P&L, business development, and organizational performance.
- Experience in multinational or regional logistics environments is preferred.
- Strong leadership capabilities with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Solid understanding of logistics operations, regulations, and market landscape in Malaysia.
- Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and decision‑making abilities.
- Ability to lead cross‑functional teams and manage complex operational environments.
- Proven ability to build strong relationships with customers, vendors, and overseas stakeholders.
- High integrity and sound professional judgment.
