Data Center & Network Operations Engineer
Responsibilities include monitoring and supporting data center, network, and application operations, escalating issues to SMEs, and following standard procedures to restore service.
- Monitor computer systems and mission / business critical applications to ensure they function efficiently.
- Monitor IT and Factory Infrastructure, Network and Firewalls availability and respond to alerts effectively.
- Monitor Global Application Support System and respond to alerts effectively.
- Communicate with internal IT Engineers over the phone or face-to-face to assist them in escalating issues to SMEs.
- Follow instructions contained in knowledge-based documents when performing service restoration (Level 1).
- Establish and maintain positive trust relationships with customers and with data specialists such as programmers.
- Produce shift status reports to communicate shift operations and issues to superiors.
- Implement procedures, policies, and standards to ensure work operations are effective.
- Initiate Severity 1 calls and follow the process to contact Sev 1 Manager & SMEs.
- Work on-site as the position requires a consistent physical presence to support daily operations and team coordination.
- The role operates on a shift schedule, following a rotation of 12-hour four days on and four days off.
Qualifications
- Possess a Bachelor’s degree in computer science, computer networking/hardware, or related disciplines.
- Good communication skills in English. Able to produce concise reports on data center, network and security operations.
- Ability to work shift 24x7 is a must.
- More than 2 years' experience in Data Center and/or Network and Security Operations with knowledge in MS Windows, UNIX, Linux or FreshService or ServiceNow.
- Good understanding of IT hardware (servers, networking, storage devices).
- Familiar with and have experience working with monitoring tools such as Zabbix, Grafana, Nagios, SolarWinds, Splunk and others.
- Experience in supporting network operations such as LAN, WAN, Firewall. CCNA will be an added advantage.
- Experience in supporting security operations such as Malware detection, SIEM and other tools.
