Job summary

A leading technology firm in Johor is seeking a Data Center Engineer to oversee data center infrastructure and ensure compliance with operational standards. The ideal candidate will have over 3 years of experience in data center operations, expertise in server maintenance, and must be able to communicate in both Mandarin and English. Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or above in Computer Science, Telecommunications, Engineering, or a related field.
• More than 3 years of experience in data center operations.

Responsibilities

• Monitor IDC infrastructure including power supply and temperature.
• Troubleshoot, maintain, and replace servers and network equipment.

Job Overview

Global Development Technology Sdn.Bhd. – Johor We are hiring for Data Center Engineer to be based in Johor.

Responsibilities

IDC Infrastructure Oversight: Monitor IDC infrastructure, including air conditioning, power supply, temperature, and humidity. Interpret equipment data to identify and address potential issues. Coordinate with operations engineers and supervise the resolution of on-site technical issues.

Server and Network Equipment Management: Troubleshoot, maintain, and replace servers (e.g., DELL, HP, IBM) and network equipment. Provide technical guidance for on-site fiber optic and cable installations in collaboration with network engineers. Maintain a strong working knowledge of Linux operating systems. Configure services and system settings such as configuration files, system routes, gateways, SSH, and out-of-band management.

SOP Compliance and Execution: Ensure strict adherence to client-specified Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). Conduct routine audits to verify compliance and operational consistency.

Client Communication & Problem Solving: Act as a key point of contact for escalations and critical communications with clients during on-site operations and emergency events. Proactively identify and resolve issues to ensure service continuity. This role requires deep technical expertise, operational discipline, and the ability to work effectively in a high-demand environment.

Requirements

Educational Background: Bachelor’s degree or above in Computer Science, Telecommunications, Engineering, or a related field.

Experience: More than 3 years of experience in data center operations, with solid exposure to server and storage maintenance.

Language Skills: Able to communicate, read, and write in both Mandarin and English to liaise with Mandarin-speaking associates.
