A leading logistics firm based in Malaysia is seeking a Customs Manager to oversee the import and export processes, ensuring compliance with local laws and optimizing operations. The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's degree in International Trade and at least 5 years of customs experience, including 2 years in management. Excellent communication skills in Malay and English are essential, with Mandarin as an advantage. This role involves team management and collaboration across sales, procurement, and logistics departments.
Oversee the company’s import and export customs processes in Malaysia.
Develop and optimize customs operation procedures to ensure all customs declarations, inspections, and related procedures comply with local laws, regulations, and internal company policies.
Improve customs clearance efficiency and reduce costs.
Closely monitor changes in policies and regulations from Malaysian customs, tax authorities, and inspection departments.
Interpret and communicate updates internally to ensure compliance with the latest requirements. Develop proactive strategies to mitigate policy risks.
Ensure compliance and well knowledge on LMW license
Manage and guide the local customs team, allocate tasks effectively, and develop training programs to enhance team performance.
Collaborate closely with sales, procurement, and logistics departments in Malaysia to resolve customs-related issues and ensure smooth supply chain operations.
Establish and maintain strong relationships with Malaysian customs, inspection authorities, and other government agencies.
Participate in industry association activities to stay informed about industry trends and regulatory requirements.
Represent the company in communications with authorities during inspections, audits, and other activities to protect company interests.
Analyze customs-related costs and develop cost-control measures. Optimize customs declaration strategies to reduce tax and clearance expenses.
Identify and assess customs risks, establish risk early-warning mechanisms, and develop contingency plans to handle emergencies and minimize potential losses.
Bachelor’s degree or higher in International Trade, Logistics Management, Customs Management, or related fields preferred.
Minimum 5 years of customs-related experience, including at least 2 years in a managerial role. Experience in customs operations for manufacturing or high-tech product imports/exports in Malaysia is preferred.
In-depth knowledge of Malaysian customs laws, import/export processes, and related policies. Proficient in customs declaration and inspection procedures.
Preferably with experiences in newly setup companies.
Strong Malay and English communication skills (written and spoken) for effective interaction with government authorities and partners. Mandarin speaking is an advantage.
Strong team management skills, with the ability to motivate and guide team members. Excellent organizational and coordination skills to manage resources and resolve complex customs issues.
