A manufacturing company in Malaysia is seeking a skilled Production Manager to oversee chemical compounding processes. The ideal candidate will have at least 5 years of production management experience and a Bachelor’s Degree in a related field, preferably in Chemical Engineering or Chemistry. Strong leadership and communication skills are essential, along with knowledge of GMP and ISO compliance. This role includes mentoring engineers and ensuring safe working practices while driving operational excellence.

Order raw material based on Production planning information provided by Factory Manager / Planner and inventory level of raw materials available.
Check and review when receiving chemicals ordered to ensure it meets the expectation based on the lab incoming test
Schedule and prioritise the workforce to ensure adequate competent people are deployed to perform the work required
Liaise with Factory Manager for chemical formula changes arrangement to produce the quality and type of gloves required.
Liaise with Production for daily compounding volume and batching time (e.g. maturing time) for coagulant and latex required for producing gloves
Minimise wastage by planning with Production team on usage of old latex and coagulant that have been previously stored during product line change.
Communicate and collaborate with Wastewater Treatment (WWT) when changing chemicals to avoid any adverse effects in the WWT process
Review and verify that the correct recipe is entered into the CBCS to produce the correct type of compound
Verify and ensure that the correct raw material is utilised for compounding (e.g. type of latex and chemicals)
Review the batching formula calculation is correct to produce the right volume of compound.
Submit sample to lab to perform the necessary test and obtain approval from lab before compound can be used by production
Review the lab report and ensure the compound is according to the requirements from production
Arrange for transfer of compound to the designated holding when there is a change of production line.
Deploy team to perform tank cleaning to prepare the tank for the next batch of compound preparation.
Manage storage of chemicals in the Chemical Store according to the required conditions required for safety and compliance purposes
Maintain a tidy and orderly manner of storing inventory to ease locating items when required.
Perform inventory check to be compared against expected rate of usage, for cleaning chemical, coagulant and latex, to determine the consumption in the production line.
Verify and ensure that the load cells and the relevant equipment are calibrated on a periodic basis to accurately prepare the compound required for production.
Drive and implement Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and progress towards operational excellence through 5S.
Identify, implement improvement project and sustain efficiencies and effectiveness improvement identified in the entire compounding process.
Define, communicate and review the Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) and Work Instructions (WI) for processes, equipment, installation and ensure it is kept current.
Cultivate and enforce safe working practices to ensure safety of the workforce in the team (e.g. usage of PPE), compliance to safety standards and drive toward zero loss time injury.
Ensure the manufacturing documentation is as per customer requirements.
Actively participate and contribute towards effective implementation of KOSSAN Process Control System (KPCS)
Mentor inexperienced engineers and technician to develop skills and provide technical leadership (formal or informal) through on the job experience as well as comprehensive understanding of the operational requirements.
Monitoring team performance against target Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), goals, career development and collaborate with HR to strengthen the compounding team competencies and talent supply.
Monitor workforce compliance in accordance with prevailing policies and guidelines, such as work hours, overtime, working conditions, fair treatment, wellbeing, etc.
Any other task and/or assigned duties as required by the management.
Minimum Bachelor’s Degree in any related field, preferably in a science discipline such as Chemical Engineering or Chemistry.
Fluent in Mandarin is an added advantage.
Minimum 5 years working experience in a production management role, preferably in a manufacturing industry.
Experience in manufacturing field with ISO compliance and regulatory environment.
Open to candidate holding managerial position for last 2 years but seasoned senior executive is welcome.
Experience in GMP, FDA, HALAL, HACCP, ISO compliance and industrial standard.
