Position Title: CNC Tooling Mould Expert
Key Roles & Responsibilities
- Lead CNC machining operations for Injection Moulds, Progressive Dies, Compound Dies, and Draw Tools, ensuring world-class precision and productivity.
- Develop, validate, and optimize multi-axis CNC programs using advanced CAM software (e.g., Mastercam, NX, PowerMILL).
- Select and prepare cutting tools, jigs, fixtures, and work-holding systems for high-precision operations.
- Provide Design-for-Manufacturing (DFM) feedback to tooling design teams, ensuring designs are machinable, cost-effective, and production-ready.
- Collaborate on mould/tool design enhancements, especially for multi-cavity injection moulds and in-mould closing mechanisms.
- Apply GD&T, metrology, and in-process inspection methods (CMM, laser scanning, precision gauges) to validate machining accuracy.
- Troubleshoot and resolve machining-related issues, including tool wear, tolerance deviations, and machine optimization.
- Manage the disassembly, maintenance, and repair of complex mould tooling, including laser welding and re-machining procedures.
- Implement continuous improvement and lean practices to reduce cycle time, improve tool life, and enhance cost efficiency.
- Contribute to process development projects aimed at reducing defects, increasing yield, and enhancing tooling performance.
- Train, mentor, and guide local in CNC machining, tooling maintenance, and repair methods,
- Promote 5S and safety culture in all machining and tooling operations.
- Support the integration of industrial automation and smart manufacturing solutions into tooling development.
Job Specifications
- Minimum Diploma or equivalent certification; additional vocational/technical training in Tool & Die or related field is preferred.
- At least 15+ years of proven expertise in CNC machining, tooling, and mould manufacturing.
- Mastery of CAM software (Mastercam, NX, CATIA, or equivalent) and CNC process optimization.
- Strong skills in precision measurement, metrology, and GD&T application.
- Hands-on experience in laser welding, tooling repair, and lifecycle management.
- Proven problem-solving, innovation, and continuous improvement mindset.
- Ability to read and interpret complex engineering drawings and blueprints.
- Strong communication skills to convey technical instructions effectively across all organizational levels.
- Ability to perform under fast-paced, dynamic environments with tight deadlines.
- Capable of working both independently and in teams, with effective cross-level collaboration.
