Job summary

A leading animation studio in Malaysia is seeking a ClothSim/CFX Artist to bring characters and assets to life through high-quality cloth simulations for game cinematics. The ideal candidate has at least 1 year of experience in 3D artistry, a background in the arts, and strong technical skills in Maya, Qualoth, Houdini, and Unreal Engine. You will be responsible for creating and maintaining cloth rigs, solving technical issues, and working collaboratively within a fast-paced environment to meet tight deadlines.

Qualifications

  • 1+ years of professional experience as a 3D artist or similar.
  • Strong knowledge of artistic anatomy.
  • Experienced with Maya’s nCloth system workflow.

Responsibilities

  • Create high quality cloth sim for characters and 3D assets.

Job description
Responsibilities
  • The ClothSim/CFX Artist is responsible for creating high quality cloth sim for characters and character-related 3D assets in a photorealistic or stylized manner for game cinematic projects.
  • Create a cloth rig and dynamic rig for simulations.
  • Good understanding of cloth physics and movement for cloth simulations.
  • Good understanding of hard surface movement for dynamic simulation (e.g., chain, wire and accessories).
  • Complete character FX work on a shot‑per‑shot basis.
  • Check for and fix penetration and intersection problems.
  • Work well in a team in an efficient and timely manner, and keep to the production schedule.
  • Be creative and proactive in problem solving technical issues with all relevant department tools, suggesting improvements and optimizations if/when necessary.
  • Ability to work in a fast‑paced environment and work under pressure to meet tight deadlines and rapid turnaround times.
Requirements
  • 1+ years of professional experience as a 3D artist or in a related job.
  • Background with Arts, Diploma or self‑taught.
  • Strong knowledge of artistic anatomy.
  • Strong technical skills.
  • Knowledge of Maya, Qualoth, Houdini, and Unreal Engine.
  • Experienced with Maya’s nCloth system workflow.
