Job description

The Communications Officer (Design & Multimedia) is responsible for enhancing the visibility, storytelling and brand identity of the Malaysian Red Crescent (MRC). The role involves developing impactful visual content through creative design, branding, photography and videography to highlight MRC’s humanitarian actions, promote volunteerism and strengthen public trust and engagement.

This position ensures all visual outputs and communication materials comply with the MRC Visual Identity (VI) and reflect the Fundamental Principles of the Red Cross Red Crescent Movement.

Graphic Design
  • Conceptualise and design creative materials for campaigns, programmes, events and public engagement initiatives.
  • Develop digital and print-ready designs including posters, infographics, reports, banners, social media graphics and branded templates.
  • Support internal departments with visually engaging materials that effectively communicate key messages and activities.
Branding
  • Maintain and ensure consistent application of the MRC visual identity across all communication channels and materials.
  • Develop and update brand assets, templates and guidelines in accordance with MRC standards and IFRC branding requirements.
  • Advise staff, chapters and volunteers on brand compliance and visual communication best practices.
  • Support national campaigns and partnerships to ensure brand alignment and visibility.
Photography
  • Capture high-quality, ethical and dignified images that reflect MRC’s humanitarian work, volunteers and the communities it serves.
  • Provide photographic coverage for missions, operations, campaigns and events.
  • Edit, curate and manage photos for publication, media releases and digital platforms.
  • Maintain a well‑organised and searchable photo archive.
Videography
  • Plan, script, film and edit video content including campaign features, interviews and volunteer stories.
  • Produce video coverage for events and humanitarian operations.
  • Ensure all video outputs include consistent branding, subtitles and narratives aligned with MRC messaging.
Content Development & Collaboration
  • Collaborate with other departments to produce multimedia storytelling that supports campaigns and organisational objectives.
  • Provide visual content for press releases, newsletters, donor communications and annual reports.
  • Work with MRC Chapters to promote local initiatives within the national brand framework.
Event Coverage
  • Provide on-site photo and video coverage during humanitarian responses, national events and high‑level engagements.
  • Produce timely and impactful visual content during emergencies and relief operations.
  • Contribute to post‑event documentation and highlight videos.
Qualifications
Education
  • Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Graphic Design, Multimedia Design, Visual Communication, Mass Communication or a related field.
Experience
  • 3 - 5 years of relevant experience in graphic design, multimedia production or communications.
  • Prior experience with NGOs, humanitarian organiations or communications agencies is an asset.
