Job description

The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) is a key member of the University’s Executive Leadership Team (as defined in the Institutions constitution), responsible for the strategic direction, financial stewardship, and sustainability of Taylor’s University and Taylor’s College.

Reporting directly to the Vice-Chancellor and functionally aligned with the Group CFO of Taylor’s Education Group (TEG), the University and College CFO provides financial leadership to enable sound decision-making, efficient resource allocation, and long-term institutional growth.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Strategic Financial Leadership – Lead the development and execution of the University’s and College’s financial strategy, ensuring alignment with academic and strategic goals.
  2. Financial Planning & Management – Oversee all aspects of finance, including budgeting, forecasting, accounting, reporting, and treasury. Ensure strong fiscal control, transparency, and compliance with statutory and Group standards.
  3. Capital & Investment Planning – Lead financial analysis, modelling, and evaluation of major capital projects and infrastructure investments to support the University’s and College’s long-term development.
  4. Governance & Assurance – Ensure the integrity of financial information, internal controls, and compliance with external audit, taxation, and regulatory requirements.
  5. Finance Transformation & Insights – Drive process improvements, digital adoption, and data-driven analytics to enhance operational efficiency and decision support.
  6. Leadership & Collaboration – Build, mentor, and empower a high-performing Finance team; serve as a strategic advisor to the Vice‑Chancellor and Executive Leadership Team on all financial matters.
Decision-Making Scope
  • Member of the University Executive Management Committee (EMC) and principal financial advisor to the Vice‑Chancellor and the Councils of the University and College.
  • Delegated authority over finance operations, resource allocation, and financial reporting within approved policies and budgets.
  • Collaborates with the Group CFO on Group consolidation, reporting, and alignment with financial governance frameworks.
Qualifications & Experience
  • Master’s degree in finance, accounting, business administration, or related field.
  • Professional qualifications (CPA, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent).
  • A significant number of years in senior leadership roles, ideally within higher education or complex multi‑entity organizations.
  • Demonstrated expertise in strategic financial management, capital planning, reporting, and transformation initiatives.

  • Comprehensive knowledge of the services or regulated industries, financial principles, accounting standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and implement financial strategies that are closely aligned with organizational goals and objectives.
