Chief Design Officer (CDO)

Location: Malaysia (Hybrid)
Type: Full-Time

At BJAK, design is central to how we communicate, engage users, and drive business impact. We’re looking for a Chief Design Officer to lead our design strategy, elevate the BJAK brand, and build a world‑class creative team.

As CDO, you will lead design across product, marketing, and brand, ensuring experiences are user‑centric, innovative, and scalable, while aligning design decisions with business growth, operational efficiency, and long‑term innovation.

Key Responsibilities
Transforming User Experience
  • Identify end‑user needs and behaviors through research, observation, interviews, surveys, analytics, and usability testing.

  • Define requirements to create brand‑aligned, intuitive, and high‑quality user experiences.

  • Lead teams to deliver digital experiences and artifacts, including UX patterns, wireframes, screens, prototypes, and design system components.

  • Support innovative business models and deliver disruption‑opportunity presentations.

  • Improve customer experiences across all touchpoints, owning front‑end interactions, such as the company website.

  • Drive design standardization through reviews and training sessions for designers.

Transforming the Organization
  • Represent design at the executive level, attending CEO leadership meetings and board meetings.

  • Spread design thinking across the organization by creating a common language and practices, such as hosting educational sessions.

  • Advocate for design‑led decision‑making to achieve revenue growth (e.g., improved user flows, brand equity) and cost optimization (e.g., robust design systems, reduced support inquiries).

Transforming the Design Team
  • Build, mentor, and inspire a high‑performing design team, including product designers, graphic designers, motion designers, and other creative roles.

  • Develop team skills through conference participation and continuous learning opportunities.

  • Nurture a thriving community of designers through monthly town halls and regular stand‑ups.

  • Lead campus recruiting initiatives to attract top design talent.

Driving Innovation and Future‑Proofing
  • Host speculative design workshops and create future‑focused concepts that anticipate emerging user needs.

  • Integrate sustainability, ethics, and planet‑centric principles into design processes and organizational standards.

  • Promote cross‑functional collaboration, enabling daily idea cross‑pollination and shared problem‑solving across teams.

Who You Are
  • 10+ years of experience in design leadership, preferably in fintech, tech, or digital services.

  • Proven track record of driving business impact through design, including revenue growth and cost optimization.

  • Strong portfolio demonstrating strategic thinking, user‑centric design, and brand impact.
