A chemical manufacturing company in Malaysia is seeking a dedicated Chemist to manage chemical analysis and formulation support for advanced fire safety agents. The role entails performing quality control testing, supporting production processes, and participating in performance validation of fire safety technologies. We are seeking a dedicated Chemist to manage chemical analysis, formulation support, and performance validation for advanced fire safety agents and materials. In this role, you will handle quality control, batch testing, and assist in developing innovative firefighting agents. No prior experience is required as we provide comprehensive training; fresh graduates are highly encouraged to apply. You will play a critical role in life-safety innovation, directly impacting product safety, environmental sustainability, and the development of advanced fire safety technologies.
Key Responsibilities
🧪 QC & Chemical Analysis: Perform routine testing (pH, viscosity, density) and specialized fire-agent tests (foam expansion, burn-back resistance). Manage batch releases and issue COAs.
⚙️ Production & Formulation Support: Monitor mixing/blending processes, optimize batch yields, and support the scale-up of formulations from laboratory to full production.
🔥 Performance Validation: Participate in small and full-scale fire testing (Class A, B, C, and Li-ion). Support certification activities with third parties like UL, KIWA etc.
📋 Compliance & Safety: Maintain SDS/TDS documentation according to GHS. Ensure laboratory adherence to ISO 9001 and environmental standards (PFAS-free, REACH, RoHS).
💡 R&D & Innovation: Support the development of next-gen agents, including firefighting foams, condensed aerosols, and specialized battery suppression solutions.
🛠️ Technical Support: Investigate OOS batches (CAPA), handle customer complaints, and provide technical data to sales and production teams.
Qualifications & Requirements
Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a related field.
Technical Skills: Knowledge of surfactants, rheology modifiers, and inorganic salts. Understanding of combustion chemistry or thermal runaway is a plus.
Competencies: Strong analytical skills, high attention to detail, and the ability to work cross-functionally with R&D and Production.
