A leading cement company in Malaysia is seeking a Central Fleet Manager to oversee the operational control of the Fleet Management Service Centre. The role includes ensuring fleet monitoring, coordinating maintenance, and managing driver performance. The ideal candidate will have a degree in Transport or Logistics Management, with 5-8 years of supervisory experience in fleet management. Strong understanding of GPS and telematics systems is required, along with exceptional leadership and communication skills.
The Central Fleet Manager is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the Fleet Management Service Centre (FMSC), ensuring effective centralised monitoring, maintenance coordination, driver performance governance and timely issue escalation across all fleet locations. This role acts as the primary operational control link between HQ and site fleet teams, ensuring standardised processes, data accuracy and consistent enforcement of fleet, safety and compliance standards across the company's owned fleet.
Oversee day-to-day operations of the FMSC, ensuring centralised fleet monitoring and coordination are executed in line with approved SOPs.
Ensure real-time GPS and telematics alerts are actively monitored, validated and escalated within defined response timelines.
Maintain centralised visibility over fleet movements, utilisation, delays, deviations and operational exceptions across all sites.
Manage and track preventive maintenance schedules and repair progress, coordinating closely with site fleet managers and workshops to minimise vehicle downtime.
Monitor maintenance compliance and elevate overdue or high-risk issues that may impact fleet availability, safety or regulatory compliance.
Oversee driver performance monitoring and coaching processes, including review of safety violations and repeat non-compliance cases.
Act as the central escalation point for operational incidents, breakdowns, safety events and chronic performance issues.
Ensure all incidents, violations and corrective actions are accurately recorded, investigated and closed with proper documentation.
Review and consolidate fleet performance data, preparing daily, weekly and monthly reports and dashboards for management.
Lead and coordinate the FMSC team, conducting daily briefings, performance reviews and supporting continuous process and system improvements.
Candidate must possess at least a Degree in Transport, Logistics Management, or any related field.
Minimum 5-8 years of experience in fleet operations, logistics or transport management.
Experience managing large commercial vehicle fleets (preferably bulk / heavy transport).
Strong understanding of GPS, telematics and fleet management systems.
Experience coordinating with workshops, drivers and multi-site operations.
Strong operational control and coordination skills.
