Role and Responsibilities
- Automotive service advisors greet customers, listen to their description of the problems or service needed, determine the type of service required and prepare repair orders. If a vehicle requires additional repairs not covered in the original order, they estimate the additional cost and telephone the customer for permission to do the work. They also advise customers on other available services.
- Advise customers on routine maintenance and necessary vehicle services
- Identify mechanical issues through customer consultation, inspection, or test drives
- Prepare and explain repair orders, cost estimates, labor, and timelines
- Communicate inspection results and recommend corrective actions
- Coordinate with technicians and dispatchers on incoming and ongoing work
- Schedule service appointments and manage customer and vehicle records
- Monitor repair progress and update customers on any changes or additional repairs
- Obtain customer approvals, signatures, and arrange payment methods
- Handle customer complaints professionally and promptly
- Ensure a friendly, timely, and accurate service experience
- Review and close repair orders, ensuring all work and authorizations are properly recorded
- Ensure vehicles are parked securely, locked, and keys are correctly labeled and stored
- Maintain and update service department forms, pricing guides, and menus
- Implement quality control procedures to prevent repeat repairs
- Uphold high customer satisfaction standards
- Handle phone inquiries related to service appointments and repair progress
- Inspect vehicles for body damage and provide repair recommendations and estimates
- Maintain a professional appearance at all times
- Keep the work area clean and organized
- Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications & Education
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Minimum 1 year of experience in an automotive warehouse, repair center, dealership, or similar environment (preferred)
- Ability to perform all job duties effectively, with reasonable accommodations if required
