Qualifications

  • 1-2 years relevant experience within a similar role.
  • Previous experience in a similar role – advantageous.

Job description

As a Cabin Steward on Eastern & Oriental Express, a Belmond train, you are an integral part of a dedicated team committed to delivering impeccable cabin care. Through meticulous preparation and a focus on guest satisfaction, you bring the highest standards of comfort and service to life for our discerning travelers.

This pivotal role requires an unwavering commitment to personalized service, ensuring the comfort, satisfaction, and safety of every guest throughout their journey. Your meticulous attention to detail and dedication to delivering a truly luxurious client experience are paramount to upholding our esteemed reputation.

Primary responsibilities
  • Ensure the highest level of passenger services, including embarkations, disembarkations, breakfast and afternoon tea services, turndown and cabin servicing, as well as personalized butler services and pre/post-departure arrangements. This includes effectively communicating with and assisting Mandarin‑speaking guests.
  • Provide a high cleaning standard in guest cabins and public areas.
  • Provide efficient, personalized and timely service to our guests in their cabins, in accordance with Belmond and LQA standards, specifically assisting Mandarin‑speaking guests with their needs and preferences.
  • Take note of guest preferences and share these when appropriate with the relevant teams, ensuring that specific preferences of Mandarin‑speaking guests are accurately conveyed.
  • Clean the guest's cabins and bathrooms according to departmental standards.
  • Maintain hygiene standards throughout the train by ensuring constant cleaning and sanitizing of all touch points.
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations and protocols, including those established by the railway authorities, and effectively communicate these to Mandarin‑speaking guests if needed.
  • Follow environmental regulations and take measures to minimise our environmental impact.
  • Perform your work to at least the minimum performance standards explained to you and required of you in your role, and ensure that you work in a manner that complies with any applicable quality assurance standards and standard operating procedures, including providing services to Mandarin‑speaking guests with cultural sensitivity.

Requirements

International exposure will be considered a plus. You must speak English. Additional languages, such as Japanese, Korean, Cantonese, French and German, are a benefit. We welcome a diversity of backgrounds, ethnicities and religions.

Experience in the hospitality industry is a bonus, but not a necessity. You could be from an independent restaurant or bar, have worked in luxury retail or private villas, or be a tour guide.
