Job description
Business Development Manager - eCommerce Payments

Business Development Manager – eCommerce Payments (Direct + Partnerships)

Kuala Lumpur preferred - Hybrid / Field-facing

About HitPay

HitPay is a payments and commerce platform helping SMBs accept and manage payments across online and in-person channels. In Malaysia, we work with direct merchants and ecosystem partners to help businesses start and scale faster with reliable payment acceptance.

Role Overview

We’re hiring a Malaysia-based sales leader to grow HitPay’s eCommerce payments business through a mix of:

• Direct merchant acquisition (SMBs and mid-market) and
• Partner/channel sales (web agencies, system integrators, eCommerce enablers, SaaS platforms, accountants/bookkeepers, POS/ERP implementers, and other SME ecosystems).

You should bring a track record of winning in payments (or adjacent fintech/SaaS), be comfortable selling both value and technical integration, and know how to build repeatable pipelines through partners—not just one-off deals.

What You’ll Own

Direct merchant growth (core)

• Build and close a pipeline of online payments merchants (SMBs → mid-market)
• Sell across key surfaces: payment gateway/checkout, payment links/invoices, platform/API integrations, plugins (e.g., Shopify/WooCommerce/Wix), and merchant onboarding flows
• Maintain strong conversion hygiene: qualified pipeline, close plans, weekly forecasting
• Build a partner network of agencies and SME enablers that consistently refer/implement HitPay
• Create partner motions: referral model, reseller/implementation model, co‑selling playbooks
• Enable partners with training, collateral, demo flows, and clear handoff processes
• Identify and pursue platform partnerships (eCommerce platforms, SaaS, marketplaces) where relevant
• Develop Malaysia GTM: target segments, ICPs, vertical hypotheses, and weekly execution plans
• Bring structured feedback to Product/Compliance/Ops on local needs (pricing, onboarding friction, feature gaps, competitor intel)
• Represent HitPay professionally in the ecosystem (events, partner meetings, community touchpoints)

Success Looks Like (First 90 Days)

• Build a consistent pipeline across direct + partner channels
• Close initial set of merchants (quick wins) and establish repeatable partner referrals
• Set up a partner list with active conversations, enablement plan, and expected lead flow
• Clear reporting: funnel metrics, conversion rates, forecast accuracy, and key blockers

Requirements
  • 5+ years in B2B sales / BD in payments, fintech, or eCommerce SaaS
  • Proven experience selling eCommerce payment gateways/online payments in Malaysia
  • Strong grasp of typical integrations: APIs, plugins, checkout flows, web agency implementations
  • Track record of closing direct merchants and building partner pipelines (agencies/SIs/enablers)
  • Comfortable with consultative selling: diagnosing merchant setup, payment methods fit, and implementation path
  • Strong written/spoken English (Bahasa Melayu is a plus)
Nice to Have
  • Experience working with PSPs, aggregators, acquirers, or BNPL/e‑wallet ecosystems
  • Familiarity with CRMs (HubSpot, Salesforce), outbound tooling, and sales operations hygiene
  • Ability to handle complex stakeholders (finance + ops + technical implementers)
  • High ownership and bias to action (you run your market like a mini‑GM)
  • Comfortable with ambiguity; you build structure, not wait for it
  • Strong ethics and long‑term thinking (payments is trust + reliability)
  • Data‑driven: pipeline discipline, conversion thinking, and honest forecasting
Compensation
  • Competitive base + performance‐linked commission
  • Growth path into a broader Malaysia leadership role based on performance
