Job description
  • Analyze Cloud Spending: Continuously monitor and analyze AWS cloud costs, identifying trends, inefficiencies, and cost-saving opportunities.

  • Cost Optimization Strategies: Implement AWS-specific cost optimization strategies including resource rightsizing, reserved instances, savings plans, and elimination of unused resources.

  • Resource Management: Ensure AWS resource utilization is optimized and aligned with organizational cost objectives.

  • Pricing Model Analysis: Evaluate AWS pricing models (on-demand, spot, reserved instances) and recommend optimal choices based on workload and cost-efficiency.

  • Reporting: Generate comprehensive cost reports, dashboards, and forecasts using AWS-native tools and open-source analytics tools, providing actionable insights to stakeholders.

  • Budgeting: Create, maintain and support budget forecasts based on usage trends, business growth, and upcoming cloud initiatives.

  • Cost Governance: Define, establish, and enforce AWS cost management policies and best practices across the organization.

  • Performance KPIs: Establish and track cloud cost performance KPIs against agreed benchmarks regularly.

  • Tool Implementation: Build automated tools and scripts to collect, analyze, and visualize budget-related cloud spend data. Configure and utilize AWS-native tools (AWS Cost Explorer, AWS Budgets, CloudWatch, Trusted Advisor) alongside open-source and community solutions for efficient cost management.

  • Collaboration: Collaborate effectively with DevOps, Engineering, Finance, and Product teams, promoting cost-conscious practices across departments.

  • Continuous Improvement: Stay informed of the latest AWS services, features, and industry best practices to continuously improve cost optimization strategies.

Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Finance, or related field.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in AWS infrastructure cost optimization.
  • Proficiency in AWS cost management tools and scripting languages (Python, SQL, Bash).
  • Experience with AWS-specific technologies and methodologies (CloudFormation, CDK, ECS, EKS).
  • Familiarity with open-source and community-driven cloud cost management tools.
  • AWS Certification (AWS Solutions Architect, AWS DevOps Engineer, AWS Cloud Practitioner).
  • FinOps Practitioner certification.
  • Experience in enterprise-scale AWS migrations or significant digital transformations.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills.
  • Exceptional communication skills, capable of clearly conveying financial insights to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
