As a purpose-driven organisation committed to providing the best service and support to our policyholders, we are seeking a professional to join our General Insurance team as AVP, Marine,Aviation and Transit Underwriting.

The Role:

  • Oversee, underwrite, manage and develop the marine cargo, hull, liability and aviation classes
  • Ensure delivery of the quotes are of high underwriting standards
  • Provide appropriate professional services to business units regarding policy matters in a clear, accurate and timely manner
  • Review renewals with claims experiences and to provide advise whether to accept or decline risk
  • Visit branches and provide consultative advice on classes mentioned above
  • Review exception reports and to analyse the performance of the respective portfolios on a monthly basis
  • Review processes on a continuous basis, identify and resolve service gaps through constructive feedback and implement process improvements where appropriate
  • Takes accountability in considering business and regulatory compliance risks and takes appropriate steps to mitigate the risks
  • Maintains awareness of industry trends on regulatory compliance, emerging threats and technologies in order to understand the risk and better safeguard the company
  • Highlights any potential concerns /risks and proactively shares best risk management practices

The Person:

  • Possess a recognised degree in any field, or Insurance qualifications at intermediate level
  • At least 10 years of relevant working experience in Marine Underwriting in General Insurance is preferred
  • Strong team leadership skills and demonstrate the ability to structure, build, align and focus a high performing team with the requisite experience and capabilities to grow the business.
  • Strong organizational and problem solving skills to manage multiple projects/initiatives and ongoing demands
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Proficient in MS Office
  • High level of integrity, takes accountability of work and good attitude over teamwork
  • Takes initiative to improve current state of things and adaptable to embrace new changes
