Job summary

A local accounting firm in Kuala Lumpur seeks an experienced accountant to manage client accounts and prepare financial statements. The ideal candidate will have over 5 years of experience in accounting and taxation, excellent communication skills in English and Mandarin, and familiarity with Xero software. This full-time position offers a permanent role with minimal training, ideal for a self-sufficient individual ready to manage their client portfolio effectively.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years in public practice accounting and taxation.
  • Ability to reconcile P&L and Balance Sheet Accounts.
  • Confident in preparing accounts from Trial Balance.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare financial statements and tax returns for various entities.
  • Liaise with clients for day-to-day enquiries.
  • Communicate with the Australian Taxation Office (ATO) as needed.

Skills

Solid Australian accounting and taxation knowledge
Good command of English
Proficiency in Mandarin

Responsibilities
  • Preparation of financial statements, income tax returns and business activity statements for companies, trusts, partnerships, and individuals
  • Building rapport with clients by assisting with day-to-day enquiries
  • Liaising with the Australian Taxation Office (ATO) and other regulatory bodies when required
Qualifications
  • Solid Australian accounting and taxation knowledge
  • Have recently worked a minimum of five (5) years as full time in a public practice undertaking accounting and taxation work for SME's.
  • Good understanding of debits/credits
  • Able to reconcile P&L and Balance Sheet Accounts
  • Confident and proficient in preparing accounts from Trial balance
  • Preparation of financial statements and tax returns for various entities.
  • Good understanding/working knowledge of GST and income tax
  • Can multitask and manage time undertaking accounting, tax and other administrative tasks
  • Good command of English to liaise directly with clients both verbally and in written communications such as letters & emails
  • Some experience in the use of Xero and Xero-Tax would be highly considered
  • Proficiency in Mandarin to effectively communicate with Mandarin-speaking clients

Minimal training will be provided towards progression of the right candidate to build on his/her initial prior experience in public practice. However, this role requires an individual with solid prior experience to manage his/her client portfolio on a daily basis. Therefore, the right candidate must have good client liaison skills as well to communicate autonomously with clients.
