Job summary

A healthcare institution in Kuala Lumpur is looking for an experienced audiologist to conduct comprehensive audiology assessments and diagnostic procedures. Responsibilities include newborn hearing screening, fitting hearing aids, and providing rehabilitation support. The ideal candidate will also ensure compliance with relevant guidelines and mentor junior staff.   • Perform cochlear implant mapping and provide rehabilitation support.
  • Prepare clinical documentation, test reports, and progress notes.
  • Operate and maintain audiology equipment, including calibration checks.
  • Support consultants during clinic and patient counselling sessions.
  • Provide counselling and patient education on device care and communication strategies.
  • Ensure compliance with MSQH, JCI, and audiology best practices.
  • Liaise with consultants and technical service providers for equipment maintenance.
  • Guide, supervise, and mentor junior audiologists.
  • Assist in operational planning and performance monitoring for the department.
  • Contribute to research and service development projects.
Job description
Responsibilities
  • Conduct comprehensive audiology assessments and diagnostic procedures (Pure Tone Audiometry, Tympanometry, Acoustic Reflex, OAE, ABR/BSER, VEMP, vestibular screening, etc.) in accordance with consultant referrals and clinical standards.
  • Provide newborn hearing screening services, record findings accurately, ensure timely referrals, and maintain follow‑up compliance.
  • Fit and verify hearing aids and assistive listening devices, ensuring appropriate prescription, counselling, functional trial, and post‑fitting adjustments for optimal outcomes.
  • Perform cochlear implant mapping, assist in candidacy assessment, and provide rehabilitation support, when applicable to consultant direction and service capacity.
    (Senior: Oversee complex cochlear implant assessments, mapping reviews, troubleshooting, and service development where applicable.)
  • Prepare clinical documentation, test reports, and progress notes accurately in KCIS/HITS or designated hospital systems, ensuring confidentiality and traceability.
  • Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot audiology equipment (audiometers, tympanometers, OAE, ABR, hearing aid verification systems, etc.), including calibration checks and preventive maintenance coordination.
  • Support consultants during clinic, procedure, and patient counselling sessions, ensuring efficient workflow, patient comfort, accurate information‑sharing, and timely reporting.
  • Provide counselling and patient education, including device care, hearing conservation, communication strategies, rehabilitation planning, and safety measures.
  • Ensure compliance with MSQH, JCI, MOH guidelines, infection control standards, and audiology best practices, including safety, documentation, and patient privacy.
  • Liaise with consultants, external vendors, suppliers, and technical service providers to ensure availability of consumables, maintenance, and suitability of equipment.
    (Senior: Evaluate new technology, provide procurement recommendations, and support service planning decisions.)
  • Guide, supervise, and mentor junior audiologists and audiology aides, including competency assessment, case reviews, coaching, and workflow support.
  • Assist the Head of Audiology in operational planning, activity reporting, manpower scheduling, and performance monitoring for the department.
  • Contribute to research, clinical data analysis, and service development projects aligned with departmental objectives and the academic health direction of KPJ.

Perform any other duties assigned by Head of Audiology, Consultant, Operation Manager, or Hospital Management.
