Job description

The Associate Director of the Business Management Office will act as a project manager for strategic initiatives across Commercial and Transaction Banking. Reporting to the Director of Strategy and BMO, and working closely with the CEO of Group Commercial and Transaction Banking, this role ensures successful project delivery, alignment with business objectives, and realization of business value. The role requires strong project management skills, stakeholder management, and the ability to navigate the complexities of a regional financial institution such as CIMB.

Project Management
  • Project manage initiatives across Commercial and Transaction Banking areas:
  • Manage delivery of transaction banking solutions for the overall non-retail segment of CIMB covering cash management, trade finance, securities services, beyond banking, digital channels, financial institutions and other related services
  • Manage delivery of SME and Business Banking solutions covering credit & financing facilities, digital channels, customer and business centre management, structured products, treasury and other related services
  • Ensuring effective management of constraints such as time, budget, and dependencies.
  • Plan and prioritize tasks across projects, managing stakeholders with differing or conflicting priorities.
Stakeholder Management & Reporting
  • Maintain project progress, milestones, and deliverables, providing timely updates to high-level stakeholders including the CEO.
  • Engage with internal stakeholders (such as BU, platform or product heads) to ensure relevant support is provided and address concerns to ensure buy-in.
  • Work closely with BU, platform, product heads and other relevant stakeholders to ensure alignment with strategic intent and goals.
Value Realization and Strategy Development
  • Collaborate with BU, platform and products heads to define project strategy, contribute to the product pipeline and ensure alignment with Group Commercial and Transaction Banking business objectives.
  • Ensure that projects deliver their intended business value through effective planning, collaboration, and issue resolution.
  • Coordinate and communicate effectively with cross-functional teams, translating complex technical details into business context and vice versa.
Risk & Issue Mitigation
  • Maintain awareness of project interdependencies and risks, identify and assess their impact on other projects and overall project delivery, making sure they are addressed.
  • Proactively monitor project execution to identify and mitigate risks, issues, and dependencies that may impact successful delivery.
    Requirements
    • Minimum 5 years of professional experience with financial institutions or leading management consulting firms.
    • Hands on experience on project management, business process improvement and change management.
    • Strong business sense, especially on digital development, yet understand technical concepts and managing Agile squads and other business teams where necessary.
    • Previous work experience in transaction or commercial banking is a plus.
    • Good knowledge of FI regulatory guidelines.
    • Hands on experience on presentation and visualisation tools.
