Job description

We are looking for an Associate, Data Governance and Data Quality to join our Central Data Office (CDO) in Khazanah Nasional Berhad (“Khazanah”).

Who We Are

The Central Data Office (CDO) at Khazanah plays a key role in enabling trusted data, reporting, and analytics across the organisation. We set the standards for data governance, making sure data are managed consistently to provide a solid foundation for reliable analysis and confident decision‑making. By joining this team, you will contribute to building the data and analytical capabilities that support strategic decision making in Khazanah.

Your Role

You will support the implementation of data governance practices across Khazanah. Your work will focus on ensuring that data is accurate, reliable, and usable in reporting, analytics, and technology projects. You will work closely with key stakeholders across investments, finance and technology to align these governance efforts with Khazanah’s objectives.

  1. Apply data governance policies and processes, monitor compliance, and provide recommendations to strengthen alignment with the Khazanah’s data programme and long‑term vision for data, AI, and technology.
  2. Collaborate with business and technical stakeholders to ensure the accuracy, timeliness, and reliability of data used in investment reporting, analytics, and AI‑driven workflows.
  3. Develop, update, and maintain key governance artefacts, including policy registers, metadata catalogues, lineage documentation, validation rules, and issues logs.
  4. Identify and track data quality issues, conduct root‑cause analysis where possible, and coordinate with relevant teams to ensure remediation actions are completed.
  5. Actively contribute to data‑related projects by identifying governance requirements, documenting risks, validating controls, and escalating concerns when gaps arise.
  6. Produce governance reports and metrics that highlight issues, progress, and trends, and recommend actions for improvement.
  7. Provide guidance to colleagues on governance processes and tools, resolve common queries, and elevate complex challenges to senior team members.
  8. Design and prepare onboarding materials, awareness guides, and refresher content to help teams embed governance principles into their daily work.
  9. Maintain working knowledge of organisational data flows, architecture, and integration points. Document and communicate the impact of changes to data systems or flows on governance requirements.
  10. Stay informed of data and AI governance trends, tools, and practices, and assess their potential relevance for the organisation.
  11. Any other duties as assigned by your supervisor, in support of the CDO’s objectives.

  • Working knowledge of data lineage, data quality controls, and metadata management.
  • Exposure to governance tools (e.g. Collibra, Informatica, Alation), cloud data platforms (Azure, Fabric, AWS), and BI tools (Power BI, Tableau, Qlik).
  • Basic understanding of finance and accounting; prior experience with investment data or financial services is an advantage.
  • Strong analytical skills, with attention to detail and the ability to interpret and present findings clearly.
  • Effective communication skills to work with both technical and business stakeholders.
  • Proactive and self‑motivated, with the ability to take ownership of tasks and deliver results.

We encourage and value applications from all backgrounds, identities, and experiences whereby all qualified candidates will be assessed in a fair and equitable manner. Our employment decisions are based on merit, business needs, and job requirements.
