To carry out the professional duties of a Teaching Assistant as circumstances may require and in accordance with the school's policies under the direction of the Principal. A Teaching Assistant will support high-quality learning and wellbeing for all learners by working alongside teachers to provide inclusive, engaging and safe learning experiences. The Teaching Assistant will help create a positive, nurturing environment where all learners can thrive academically, socially and emotionally.
Work with individuals or small groups of learners to reinforce learning, provide targeted support and promote independence.
Support learners with additional needs, adapting approaches as directed by the teacher or teachers from the Inclusion department.
Promote positive behaviour and emotional regulation, modelling respectful communication and encouraging learners to make good choices.
Supervise learners during transitions, breaktimes, lunchtimes or educational visits as needed.
Foster learners’ confidence, curiosity and love of learning.
Assist the class teacher in preparing learning materials, resources and classroom displays.
Support the implementation of planned lessons by helping to organise activities and guide learners’ participation.
Help maintain an orderly, safe and stimulating learning environment.
Provide constructive feedback to the teacher on learners’ progress, engagement or concerns.
Uphold safeguarding responsibilities and report concerns in line with school policy.
Contribute to a positive, inclusive school culture and uphold the school’s ethos, values and expectations.
Attend relevant meetings, professional development and training sessions.
Work collaboratively with colleagues and communicate professionally with learners, families and staff.
A genuine commitment to supporting learners’ learning and wellbeing.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to follow guidance and work effectively as part of a team.

Basic understanding of the primary curriculum and how learners learn.
Experience working with primary-aged learners in a school setting.
Experience supporting learners with additional or special educational needs.
The job holder’s responsibility for promoting and safeguarding the welfare of children and young persons for whom s/he is responsible, or with whom s/he comes into contact will be to adhere to and ensure compliance with the School’s Safeguarding Policy and Procedures at all times. If in the course of carrying out the duties of the role, the job holder identifies any instance that a child is suffering or likely to suffer significant harm either at school or at home, s/he must report any concerns to the School’s / Designated Safeguarding Lead or to the Principal or indeed to the Safeguarding Governor so that a referral can be made accordingly to the relevant third party services.
