An automotive manufacturing company based in Malaysia is seeking an experienced Assistant SQE Manager and SQE Manager. This full-time role involves leading supplier quality strategies, ensuring compliance with IATF 16949, and overseeing quality control for projects. We are looking for a talented Assistant SQE Manager and SQE Manager to join our team at CHERY CORPORATE MALAYSIA SDN. BHD. in Lembah Beringin, Selangor. This is a full-time role that will play a crucial part in ensuring the quality and safety of our manufacturing processes and products.
Lead supplier quality strategy and governance for Malaysia-based projects and site development.
Oversee end-to-end APQP execution, ensuring milestone achievement and compliant deliverables across all APQP phases.
Drive supplier selection, qualification, and performance management for new and existing suppliers.
Define, deploy, and continuously improve supplier quality standards aligned with IATF 16949 and project requirements.
Lead supplier issue escalation and drive effective Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPA) with sustainable root cause resolution.
Plan and conduct supplier audits (process, material, system, and capability), ensuring timely closure of action plans.
Collaborate with Procurement and Project teams to strengthen the local supplier ecosystem and support localization initiatives.
Establish and approve Incoming Quality Control (IQC) strategies, inspection plans, and acceptance criteria.
Monitor supplier quality performance indicators (PPM, OTD, NCR, warranty/penalty exposure) and proactively drive improvements.
Lead cross-functional teams to resolve material, construction, and on-site quality issues with minimal impact on cost and timelines.
Champion structured problem-solving methodologies (8D, FMEA, SPC, 5 Why, risk assessment).
Develop early-warning mechanisms to identify and mitigate supplier and project quality risks throughout the project lifecycle.
Ensure full compliance with IATF 16949, applicable ISO standards, and local regulatory requirements.
Lead the development and governance of quality policies, SOPs, inspection standards, and technical documentation.
Act as a key contributor during internal, external, customer, and certification audits.
Review and endorse management-level quality performance reports, providing insights and strategic recommendations.
Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance supplier capability and overall quality performance.
Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Quality Management, or a related field (Master’s Degree is an advantage).
Strong working knowledge of IATF 16949 Quality Management System.
IATF 16949 Internal Auditor certification is preferred.
Knowledge of VDA 6.3 standards; VDA 6.3 Process Audit certification is highly desirable.
Minimum 6–8 years of experience in supplier quality, project quality, or automotive manufacturing.
Proven experience in APQP leadership, supplier development, and cross-functional project execution.
Strong leadership, stakeholder management, and communication skills.
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, project-driven automotive environment.
